The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It is cold and rainy here, and we've got thunder rumbling about. I was hoping for a bit of sun to warm up the house, but that hasn't happened.

The local turkey came visiting this morning. They aren't particularly worried by us and there are so many bugs around they are welcome to as many as they can eat!

Our Muscovy ducks seem very pleased with their new home. I just wish we could give them some grass but where their new house is under the trees there's not a lot of pasture up there anyway (and the chickens have scratched up and eaten what was in the immediate vicinity).

This boy is my favourite - he's so calm and sweet:

I'm pretty sure we have ended up with a pair of chickens. Even though they are only a couple of weeks old I'm getting serious boy vibes from one. He's got all the classic signs - slower feathering, thicker legs, and a little comb already sprouting. The little girl is a doll, but very determined. She jumps out of the cage all by herself (it's at least a foot tall and only has a door in the roof - I am about to give them a bigger cage). Then this morning she'd jumped up on my shoulder and DS was standing in front of me, so she tried to jump up on him!

And I couldn't leave out these two cuties:

Hope you don't mind all the photos. Just trying to distract myself from being cold. :p

Good evening folks :frow Sue is getting more mobile by the moment. She took a shower today, washed her hair and brushed her teeth. Then she got dressed all on her own. Seeing her in real cloths was wonderful.

She must've felt like a new woman being able to do all that for herself. Hopefully she won't need to stay in rehab for long.

Will there be a Turkey hunting Season?

Will there be a Turkey hunting Season?

My Mum loves to recount the story of my Dad shooting a turkey, and her lovingly cooking it... and it was horrible! So, no. We'll just appreciate their bug eating skills. And we definitely don't have the skills to be hunting for our own food. 😄

I washed the bottom of an indoor rabbit cage yesterday and left it on the grass to dry (except it then proceeded to rain:rolleyes:). I couldn't believe it when I did go and retrieve it how many baby locusts were hiding under the rim. Then there were the slugs. 😱 (I hate slugs).
