The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good afternoon all. Got my mugs and tshirt. I ordered the shirt extra big so I can use it for jammies. I don’t wear white in public, every time I do I spill something on it :gig

Nice!

Remember, no dishwasher for the mugs. The decal will come off

Hi everyone!

Those wild fires are terrible. I sure hope something changes soon to improve the situation.

DH and I might be trying our hand at butchering some ducks. The male we kept, and one of the girls, have been making our son's life a misery, so they are all shut up in a pen again (which defeats the purpose of having them as bug control). We've tried holding them down to establish dominance and it works at the time but the next time they see him they have another go. They'll try and have the odd go at me too but I know the warning signs (they drop their wings) and I chase them off whenever I go in their pen to remind them I won't put up with their rubbish. We've found some friends for the girl who is nice, but the people we are buying them from just have to catch them.

The resident turkey flock is up the back near the chickens. There are two toms and they are showing off with all their might. They look so cute and funny.

It's almost day 18 for my eggs. I'm interested to see what hatches out. With the Partridge coloured chicks there is another boy. :woot I'm not sure about the light ones yet but hopefully in a few more days their chest feathers will have filled in enough. They are feathering up super fast compared to the Birchens.

They were going to do a state wide ban on them here in WA  & then freaked out when Covid happened & they reversed the ban & said reusable bags are not to be used...smh :gig
Plastic "single use" bags were supposed to be outlawed in VT earlier this year but Covid got in the way. Not allowed to use your reusable bags (which I've been doing for nearly 40 years) so I had them put the groceries back in the cart and bagged them at the car. Plastic bag ban now in effect and we can use our reusable bags though some store you bag your own, some they will dain to touch them. If you need a paper bag the store can give you one, or sell you one. Oddly if they sell you one they HAVE to charge at least $0.10. No idea why, I'm sure some stores would be happy to sell them at cost.

It is also very wide spread. I read that the smoke has hit Michigan too
Apparently our skies are going to be tinted by "your" fires as well but high enough it won't affect air quality.

Oh my, I didn't realize the smoke was so far up into Canada as well.

If the Yellowstone caldera blows, it won't be just me that gets hit. I'll just go faster than others.
Wow, looks like most everyone (thing?) in 3 states will go!

Mt. Shasta is thought to be the next one to go
That is too close to my cousin, she's only 55 miles south of Shasta.

Hi Jae, thank you! We need some major rain and I don't see that in the near future. The winds are calm and I hope they stay that way or things will get much worse.

I would be butchering some ducks too, aggressive animals can do some major damage! I hope the new ducks you get work out better for you.

Turkeys are such magnificent birds!

Can't wait to see what you get from your next hatch! 💞
