Opie got checked out by the vet. She said he has a gum infection and all the crap draining from that is what's upsetting his stomach. He's been treated and should be a lot better in 2-3 days. They also weighed my little guy...a whopping 18 pounds! What a dainty little cat


The vet gave me something I can give the 3 house cats when I relocate them to Casper. It should help make the drive less stressful (for both them and me).

Mine had the same happen during the summer I got him too the vet, it was a huge relief to get that result, he was really low. Now I know what to look out for in the future.
I now use a damp cotton cloth greased up with coconut oil and a little bicarbonate soda then rub his teeth and extra gently around the gums, I keep doing this every now and then. It seems to be working for him because there's been no more issues.

Opie's teeth are in great shape, but his gums are inflamed. The vet said it's pretty common in cats and no one knows why. With the treatment she gave him, he could be ok for good or may need to have it repeated every couple of months. Guess we'll just wait and see how he does.

My cat, has gone from a terrified kitten that wouldn't go near anyone into a stalking greedy fusspot. He has about seven places or beds to sleep which he changes by the day or sometimes week , today he's decided he wants to sleep in my latest box even before I could get the contents out . What on earth is going on

Speaking of cats, my Opie boy isn't feeling or acting right so he's off to the vet later this morning. Poor guy, I just hate seeing him not acting himself.

It is windy as heck here. It's awful quite frankly but it's supposed to ease off for us tomorrow.

I've got 2 cockatiel eggs making shadows in their air cells (not internally pipped though). I'm not 100% sure when they are due to hatch, so I'm keeping an eye on them and I'll wait until they have internally pipped before raising the humidity seeing as I have other, younger eggs in there with them. I swore I wouldn't add any more, but I did. 1 I'm not too sure about as it seems to have developed a little crack so fingers crossed it makes it. It's air cell is still small compared to the other one which is perfect.

@igorsMistress have you had any luck with your duck eggs?

My ducks didn’t hatch, thanks for asking. The eggs were delayed in the mail for two days, I tossed 11 after the first week of incubation and the two that went into lockdown didn’t make it. One was shrink wrapped and the other pipped internally but that’s as far as it got. The one that shrink wrapped had a dirty shell and was pretty porous so I almost didn’t even set it and the other was small, maybe the size of a medium chicken egg. I ordered 3 ducklings though and I think that’ll do.

I know when people aren’t paying attention or answering my questions with knowledge most of the time. I tried that, then went there and got different info.

Oh, like when I called the hardware store and asked if they had a SPECIFIC brand of circuit breaker in the store (it showed up on line), the guy said hold on and went to check. He said they had them, I repeated the brand, he said yes. Guess what they didn't have in the store.

I might have a plain glazed once in a while if it’s still warm but otherwise no. They taste like cold lard otherwise to me.

Oh, that's disappointing, but at least you can get ducklings - are they being mailed to you?

It's such a gamble with shipped eggs.

My Mum knows a family who would love a cockatiel as a pet so I've said if I can successfully hatch and raise some they can have one as to buy a hand reared cockatiel is at least $150 and they don't have a lot of money, but they do sound like a lovely family. Our two inside cockatiel boys are just adorable and I actually love them a little more than I love our cats. Never thought I'd say that! Even our aviary birds are a joy to visit - they get so excited to see us.
