Good morning!

Well, the day is almost three quarters done (the waking bit, at least) but we are entertaining our son's friend who has come home for a visit (he studies in Japan). Haven't seen him for going on 3 years, so that will be nice. Shame our son is not around also, but thats the way it goes. Just making sausage rolls, got some chicken wings waiting and then I'm done.

Sorry, Debby and Sunflour about the working day - hope it goes as painlessly as possible

Chris, did you make the wings? Buffalo wings are one of DH's favorites so if you feel like sharing how you do it, I'd appreciate it!

I'm going to play hookey from work for a while...nothing special really, just going into town to do the food shopping for the golf course grill. But it will be a break away from the routine.

Hi all...just did 8 jars of tomato juice and 2 Apple crisps....2 different friends gave me the tomatoes and the apples so I had to do something with them. I wasn't planning on doing any canning this year but plans changed

I also finished with tomatoes and tomato sauce canning, but our tomato plants are on their last leg

We don't get apples around here until October

These are an early Apple I guess. He also gave me pears which I'm not sure what I'll do with them as they are pretty little...not like your normal store bought ones.

Yeah, I made them, but it was a bit of a cobbled together affair to be honest. I used some marmalade, soy sauce, chilli, honey, tamarind paste (cos i did not have any fresh orange / lemon juice) to try and up the acidity and balsamic vinegar and then salt. Tasted ok to me, but DW was not keen the sweetness level

These are an early Apple I guess. He also gave me pears which I'm not sure what I'll do with them as they are pretty little...not like your normal store bought ones.

I would not want to hand peel those pears, but if they are small and round you could use an apple peeler and can them in halves or make preserves?
