The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

:woot I've been busy selling my last cockatiel babies (the ones that are old enough for their new homes at least). They all go to their new homes on Sunday as they are all headed for Auckland. DH is taking our DD down to my parents as she has an orthodontist appointment later in the week, and they'll deliver the birds on their way.

Making a double batch of my buns did work, but next time I'll only use 3 bantam eggs (not 4) as the dough was just a bit softer and stickier than usual. I'm also glad I put the dough in my massive bowl as otherwise it would've busted out during its first rise in the fridge overnight. They froze well too.

Hope everyone has a great end to the week.

I think Persephone laid today, she will be 9 in June. Also one from a nearly 6 year old (she's been laying really thin shells the last couple of years though this one seems OK), the other 3 have already been laying.
2 of the 4 nearly 4 year olds have been laying, never got much out of the other 2, they are Exchequer Leghorns.
The nearly 3 and nearly 2 year olds have all been laying.
No one in full swing yet though.

I'm getting 6 more chicks in June.

Heard a redwing blackbird late this afternoon. I have no idea what that boy thinks he's going to eat while he waits for the girls to show up.
Hope you've had an awesome day! 🍰 Happy Birthday!

We've named one of our baby cockatiels Persephone. She's a sweetie.

What is it about saying you don't have any more available at the moment that makes everyone want one as soon as possible?! 🤣 All my babies are now pre-sold, even the ones that are 4-8 weeks away from weaning. :th Now I just have my pair on their nest, though I'd like to leave them a baby or two to raise all the way to weaning themselves. I was kinda hoping just to handle their babies a lot and not have to hand feed any, but not sure I'm going to get away with that.
