The way we went to Centennial was over the mountain, at the top it's over 10,000 feet. You're most likely (definitely?) right about the snow, but for now it was fun.


DS's doctorate is in ecology/evolutionary biology (emphasis on reptiles & amphibians). It seems if he had studied something more cute and cuddly like deer or even fish, there would have been more job opportunities. Surely someone cares about snakes and toads

The cats are totally enjoying having him here (and so am I)!

Your DS's degree is impressive - wish he could connect with those folks doing the evolutionary studies - I would love to hear his ideas on the separate evolution of poultry - most studies I see now think they were not from reptiles but totally from different lineage?

With all that talk about old haunted mental institutions lately, I got the great idea to take DS to see the WY Frontier Prison yesterday. Wowza, that was a creepy place. Great tour though with all sorts of stories about certain inmates, demonstrations on how their hanging apparatus worked, the gas chamber, etc. They do Halloween tours every year but just seeing it au natural was enough for me.

Agree!

When my boys were pretty young, one summer my parents took them on a 2 week vacation. During that 2 weeks they toured 3 old prisons and jails. The boys always referred to that 2 weeks as their "scared straight" vacation.

Must have worked, no problems with the kiddos!

Neat looking place! Looks a lot like another old prison we have here. I still haven't toured it, but its on my list. Moundsville.
