The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

TK, there's a movie called "Napoleon" which was created by the same folks as gave us "Milo and Otis." Same basic format - live animals onscreen, voice over actors creating the story line. In "Napoleon," there's a retriever puppy that goes adventuring in the Australian outback. One of the animals he encounters is a black cat, and she is absolutely crazy - really scary. When my son was a preschooler, he liked the movie, but didn't like the cat, so he just fast-forwarded through the parts where she appeared. When my daughter was that age, her response to the cat was quite different - she became the cat. Now that's scary!

got to share this with you folks........ so my kids, even tho they are homeschooled, participate in a story contest for PBS kids. It involves creating a story, and then drawing pictures with the story. Last year, my 9 year old won third place in his age group for all of south texas. Pretty impressive. This year, my 5 year old is eligible to participate. he hasn't done his pictures yet, but anyone can tell from his plot, and character development, he is ALL boy!!
Adorable. I love it!

Oh, yeah......posted just for me, right?

Soooo, wanna know how cold it really got here? Well, Cody got more snow and cold than any other time since 1917. And a snowplow got stuck on Chief Joseph Highway (why they keep that beastly route open in winter I'll never understand!) so they sent a guy from Eagle Towing in his big truck, accompanied by two more snow plows, to get him out. They got him out, and on the way back down the lead plow got stuck, holding up the whole parade. The dispatcher was extremely concerned - the TEMPERATURE up there was -59 degrees and the WIND CHILL was -104. Yep, you read that right. I had to read the article in the Cody Enterprise twice, thinking I read it wrong. I'll see if I can find it again and post the link. In the meantime, here were the winds speeds around here.

So yep, pass the margarita and the salt...lots of salt! At this rate I'll freeze to death before my heart gives out anyway!

Here's the link...the story about the tow truck operation is about halfway down.

Good morning folks

Lots of catching up for me after a day in the office yesterday. The air conditioning was a special treat but I now have a sore neck which I think was from sitting under one of the vents. Things were cooled down last night by a thunderstorm and rain and today we have dropped back to a predicted maximum of 84F after 91F yesterday.

Blooie that view from you kitchen is beautiful!

N F C and NickyKnack I loved all the funnies!

The whole Rudolph saga cracked me up!

WVduckchick your little bantam cochin is a cutie! The world needs more bantam cochins!

Tumbling K That is a great story your son wrote; I hope he is rewarded.

We have the Christmas recipe shopping list ready to go . wish me luck on the adventure tonight which is a once a year event; grocery shopping with hubby!

LOL Usually either he goes or I do, never together. If I go, we get everything we need. If he goes, I sit patiently by the phone waiting for the call to come and bail him out

When it comes to shopping his fuse is non-existent and there is no warning or time to seek refuge before the explosion

Gotta be the most frustrating thing to have to do, I'm sure.
