Aaaw, thank you! .. Yep, we have fishies; two in the middle pond who did not get the memo about out growing their surroundings and are now nicknamed 'The Baby Moby's' and three in the lower pond. Some are 6 or so years old now. Sadly, while we will be taking the ponds when we move to set up at our new home, the fishies will not be coming with us .. just a bit to hard to trek them that distance, along with the chickens and cats etc. The filter is solar powered and drains from the bottom pond up to the top which feeds to the middle pond and then back into the bottom. The local bird life love the top pond and use it as their bath. I enjoy the sounds of the water, very relaxing.
Beautiful!

Does this mean that DH got the job? Sorry if I missed seeing that before.

That is absolutely gorgeous. I love the levels and all the greenery around it - it looks so calming and inviting!

We had a pond for several years. We have this awkward, empty triangle space between the house and the sidewalk, and the sidewalk comes up to the house at an angle because of the layout. So we put a small pond in there, and had just a few fish in it. But after Kendra was born we took it out. It wasn't safe to keep it there with her, and since we wouldn't know for a couple of years how mobile she would be it just made sense to get rid of it. I miss it, but not enough to risk putting it back in. And ours wasn't nearly as beautiful as yours is. Pond envy. <sigh>

After we took the pond out...

Good morning :frow

We ended up getting about 1.5" of snow yesterday and more expected today. I still have gotten used to how the temp can be that cold but it doesn't feel like it because there's so little humidity (unless the wind is blowing, then all bets are off).

Yesterday there was a small herd of antelope in the backyard snuffling around finding plants to eat. I'm really looking forward to seeing the babies this spring. Hope this year I can get some good pictures of the little ones.

You all stay warm or cool, depending on what you need, today!
When it warms up around here it often gets damp feeling so it doesn't necessarily feel warmer. We just got done getting a couple of inches during the week and more is expected next week. It doesn't snow as much as it used to. I do often wonder if it actually snowed more when I was a kid or it just appeared to because I was shorter, though currently I'm not very tall at 5'1". I do remember deep deep snow as a kid.

@Blooie your pond was beautiful too. I haven't had one yet...but some day! The bright side of your taking it out is now you have room for another hummingbird feeder.

BTW, what did you do with it during our long, cold winters?

@oldhenlikesdogs I think you're right about it snowing more back in the day. Things have changed. When I was growing up in IA and KS, almost every winter we got lots of snow...at least thigh high a couple times during the winter. I think the last time that happened over about a 15-20 year period was back in 2010. Any more they get way more freezing rain than snow.

@N F C Your Bam Bam was like my beast I'm sure it was you - anyway Long story sorry but need help

Beast has been gone for 2 days and the thunder brought him in - Covered in maggots but not intestinal. Something has happened to him - bad - I lifted his tail and he has black runny poo and I saw a hot spot on tail where it has been stuck and the flies have hatched. No vets availablle - weekend -shaved tail and hot spot with masses of fly eggs -dehydrated and sick sick.

I've cleaned him up and given ipec and doxy which I had for the chicks and dropping water every ten mintues with a syringe. Very sick liittle fuzzem I am so worried - vet open tmrw but hope he gets thru the night - think for once whoop whoop is going to be a coffee freak. Trouble is trying to keep him quiet with other cats and dogs because my big dog has to be with me all the time and don't want him to catch anythiing.

I have checked him all over he has not been hit by a car, or bitten by another cat - I can only think a snake or one of my bloody frogs I have been saving - whatever I have never seen such a sick cat in all my 30 years of cats.

@whoop whoop so to hear the news about your Beast. It sounds like he had a very nasty 2 days. I hope you can get him in to the vet tomorrow. Do you have a crate you can keep him in? That might keep him quiet and the other animals wouldn't be able to bother him.

Poor guy, hope he'll be ok. Keep us posted, ok?

Good plan, I'll try that but he is so miserable - I'll put it next to me on my bed he hates being cooped up but I'll do that until tmrw.. thanks Debbie

Good morning folks

Hey Scott, hubby has heard nothing about the job. Which, while not looking good, still leaves a glimmer of hope as non successful interviewees were also going to be advised. Until we hear either way there is still a chance

Our plans to move remain, regardless of whether he gets the job or not, that would just have been a bonus.

I did get some good news yesterday in that the company I have worked for for 16 years has agreed to my being able to continue working for them remotely, so at least one of us has a guaranteed income around which we can plan.

whoop whoop Sorry, my knowledge of fish is very limited and I probably should be surprised that these guys have lasted as long as they have. Besides the two Shubunkin’s the remainder of the fishy family are just ‘feeder’ fish that we popped into the pond and which grew to a decent size. I do not think these fish are Koi and just backyard mutts or goldfish; is there a difference?

So, I am replying to posts in Word as I scroll through and I come across your news about Beast! I am so very sorry to hear that

I wish I could help but any time our cats are sick we are straight off the Vet so I really have nothing to offer. I do hope that he is OK and have everything crossed for some good news

Just thinking, when you say “frog” do you mean he might have eaten one? We have cane toads here which are poisonous to cats and dogs and if they have licked one, the first priority is to thoroughly wash out their mouth and gums. Milk is also advised as I think it neutralises the acidic poison.

Thank you Blooie, I too love all the greenery. I am not a ‘pretty flower’ type of person and prefer lots of green. I disagree! Your pond was beautiful! Is that a little raccoon statue? I want one!!

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to mow I go .. nothing like mowing lawns in 91.5F heat
