Glad Opie is all good - Debby, are there some photos of your kitties on the thread I can find?

We had a bit of a disasterous morning. We checked on the younger finches to find one dead and two very cold weak chicks. It was a cool, drizzly morning here. I have got a little bit of hand rearing formula into them, drip by drip. They are too weak to feed properly. Initially I thought I'd managed to get liquid on their lungs as they sounded clicky, but they sound fine now. One even gave a weak cheep as I tried to feed it. Poor things. I'm not sure if the excitement of the older chicks fledging distracted the parents or what, but here we are. I'd say I won't be getting much sleep tonight as I continue to try and feed them. Both babies have pooped which I've taken as a positive sign. Fingers crossed they make it as yesterday our DD got upset about something which lead to her "cursing the gods" (her words) for taking away her chickens - Pixie, and we also lost 3 young pullets towards the end of last year. She was breaking her little heart.

J, sorry to hear about your little finches, losing 1 and the other 2 needing nursing. Your poor daughter, this must be hard for her. And not easy for you with the extra stress and work. I sure hope the 2 pull out of it...I agree the pooping and bit of cheeping is a good sign. Well wishes coming your way

Thank you. One has decided it wants to eat and gobbled down a huge amount of food last feed. It has been named Valentine. The other one, Luvy, is still on the fence about the taste but I managed to drip feed it a reasonable amount. They are unfortunately just old enough to know the difference between their mother and me. But at least they are eating. I'm feeling more hopeful than I was at the start of the day.

Your cats are just gorgeous! Opie looks like he's full of mischief.

Nice work on the transport investigation, Teila, and so tickled that he got the job! Onward and upward - now you can actually plan without the word "if" coming first!

DH is getting better every day. He has his follow-up appointment tomorrow, expecting a good report.

My Opie is doing great today. After I brought him home from his surgery he was pretty groggy and slept most the day. This morning he's full of p & v...he's been terrorizing Bam and Pip, knocking things off my desk, playing in their water bowl and racing from one end of the house to the other. Lol, I'd say he's feeling pretty good today.

I have a special Valentine for you Blooie...

Aww, so sweet! And I didn't get you anything. <sigh> I'm a failure.

Been too sick to be "busy", Debby. Got hit hard by the flu, and ended up being ill-er-er than I though from it. So a few rounds of fluids, a little, um, enforced bed rest, and I figure in about 20 more years I should be back to whatever passes for normal. Funny, the hospital even ended up on quarantine. But home in time to get the house ready, laundry caught up, and get packed for a fun filled 4 day in Omaha. Who the heck goes to Omaha in February? Last year we were supposed to go to Madison, Wisconsin for this event but I had a little heart attack the day before our flight left so I got out it. This year my timing was bit off......
