Off today, studying on integrating new chicks to my 4 yo hens. Gotta make a decision soon on newbies or not

Sorry you're working, but somebody has to :)

IMO, 15 minutes is not any kind of nap...that's just resting your eyes

Nope, not worried because I already know who'll be using the shovel (me). Frankenfoot isn't up to that kind of activity yet. I still shake my head that someone living in WY didn't think they would need a snow shovel.
Um, we finally bought a snow shovel after that 8" snowfall we got in October, followed by the next one which was 19 inches. We've been here 20 years and all we've ever used to move snow until now was push broom.

Why not raise the chicks out in the coop or run with the adults from the start? I do it all the time, and I'm so glad I do because I have total integration and have the brooder broken down and removed by the time the Littles are 4 weeks old. The mess, the dust and all that garbage is outside, and the chicks get used to natural day/night cycles from day one. Just a thought.....

I think my DH may have been talking to you guys re: the need for a shovel. But there was no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that stuff on our driveway can be handled with a broom. The wind blows it just "right" to make a huge mound to the entrance of the garage, then it partially froze. Yesterday I had to resort to using an old 2x4 to carve out a couple of ruts the car wheels could go through. Not doing that again, this gal's getting her a nice shovel!

Hey, I remember that article Blooie...excellent suggestion to try out that method!

Well I'm up - today I get the hot dog & big pop combo for $1.64 at Sam's club. Can hardly wait.

You could skip the trip to Sam's Club and come to my house. That's what we're having for lunch...jumbo hot dogs (chili and cheese optional).
