The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Wow, this has been a real good news kind of day...so happy for Tam & the kids; Teila (great your DH hasn't had more car issues) and my son should be pulling in to Cheyenne later today to see his grandma & cousin for a few days before coming here.

Teila, now that your car is behaving, your husband is making good time. You'll probably rest easier knowing he's arrived and done with the trip.

DMC, cute pictures! What a pretty bird bath too, did you paint it?

J, glad you're husband is coming around to seeing hand-reared birds are cute. Don't be surprised if some day one completely wins him over and becomes "his" bird, lol.

Awesome news Blooie! I asked my son where he was going and he said Gilette and they are seeing a coal mine also.

That coal mine is HUGE!!! I thought you'd said "gold mine." A very good friend of ours has worked st that coal mine for years and years, I'm not sure what she does now, but she was something like a mine safety officer. Marci's husband will be Grand Master coming in August, then Ken is Grand Master after him. Small world!

Keeping everything crossed that hubby's llast miles are uneventful, Teila!

I just got some good news of my own! My oldest son called to say he's coming for a visit. He'll be here around the middle of this week and spend a whole week with us before going back home in KS. I'm so excited, love that kid!!
Woo hoo! So happy for you!
Oh man, that means I have to clear out and clean up the spare room. Definitely worth it though!

Good morning!

My son made it to his grandma's yesterday...said he fought the wind all the way from Kansas to Wyoming. But he made it and that's what counts. He'll stay with her a couple of days then he'll be here!

@Blooie when you mentioned it's a small world, I was thinking it's a small state (people-wise), lol. I'm still getting used to people knowing everyone else around here.

@dawnmt70 how are you?

Hmm, sounds like he may be heading for Atlantic City up on South Pass, DMC. I could be wrong, but that's the only one I can think of right now...

And, with two phone calls and the handing over a key, Tam became a homeowner this morning. She's dead tired because she worked all night until 7 this morning, met the realtor at 10 (after coming by to pick me up and go with her) and she now owns her first home. So is she now at home being a good girl and getting some sleep before Evan gets home from school? Nope, she dropped me off and cajoled her dad into going over with her to see it again! He'd stayed here while I went so I wouldn't have to take Kendra. It was something to see. Immediately after getting her keys, she just lost it - couldn't stop crying she's so happy. I'm a little bummed -she's no longer going to be 2 blocks away but several miles. But I'll get over it! Thanks for the support, my friends.

Oh, if you ever needed an idea of how laid back Wyoming is, yes, our realtors have often been known to meet the clients in jeans and a baseball cap!

Blooie, I am amazed at how fast this happened, so glad Tam has a new home.

Good morning folks

Hubby knocked off 977 kilometers [607 miles] yesterday before stopping at a motel for the night. Just 499 kilometres [310 miles] to go so, if he heads out early, he could arrive lunch time today.

The car was great and no more flashing engine light, even on the hills. When the mechanics had a quick look at it for him earlier in the day, the code was related to a possible misfiring cylinder. While I do not know much about car engines, I am wondering if the recent service and then spurts of 100kms/hour [62 miles/hour] which we do not do often in the city

dislodged some gunk or dirt which temporarily caused an issue. Anyways, all is good and not long to go before I can relax, knowing he arrived safe.

Great news, hopefully he'll have no further set backs for the trip.

My sister painted it...I would have been boring and done it in one color
