The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

YAY!

Poor DH has been through it alright with 2 surgeries within 2 months. But his frankenfoot is getting better all the time and the hernia repair should be easy after that. I don't know if he appreciated me laughing this morning though...he was walking through the house and it sounded like this:
klomp, step
klomp, step
cough, ouch
cough, ouch
klomp, step

Now really, who wouldn't have laughed?

You owe me one computer keyboard....the screen I can clean myself but I'll never get the tea spit out of the nooks and crannies of the keyboard!!

J, those little puffy-cheeked Javas are so fun to see! And wow, look at the feathers on the babies now...they're sure growing!
No kidding, Debby. J, better watch out....it won't be long and they'll be asking for the car keys! I always thought that they matured kinda slow, but yours are really growing fast!

and I am an Olympic Grade Worrier - I will even worry in my sleep. It's a gift I possess
hugs.gif
I tell the kids that worrying is my job, one of the few things I'm really good at, and it's cruel to take a gift like that away from an old lady.

Good morning!

Teila, have you been able to call your DH? I've got all the body parts crossed hoping the storm changes direction (back out to sea would be good).
I just got a mental picture of this.....it's probably amusing to look at but would be hilarious if you tried to dance!

Teila,by the looks of that map it's probably pointless now to hope it goes away. <sigh> So right now I'm going to focus my prayers that the damage is minimal and easily handled and that hubby, FIL and puppy all come out safe!

The cardiologist surprised us. The issue with Ken's EKG was that there was one place on his heart where the electrical signal wasn't where it should be - it does a loop around one spot on his heart and has made its own pathway. That's as close as I can get to the explanation without a ton of diagrams and fancy words. They think he had a mild, silent heart attack at some point (maybe mistaking it for indigestion or upper back pain) and that little bit of muscle tissue is now dead or very damaged. He's still a go for the surgery on Wednesday. Ken was a little befuddled (what else is new?) about how he could have a heart attack and not even know it, but Dr. Big Words said that it's not at all uncommon. He also said that it could well have happened after Ken's initial shoulder injury and Ken could have mistaken the discomfort for pain radiating from that. It was a stark reminder that not all heart attacks begin with crushing chest pain. We should have remembered that. Mine was just this slowly increasing pain in my back about half way between my shoulders and my waist - or where my waist used to be - and at first I thought I'd pulled something lifting Kendra.

Today is Landyn's 4th birthday!! Happy birthday to our very first (and very favorite) great-grandson!!

Blooie, it's always hilarious when I try to dance

My mom had a couple of "silent" heart attacks without knowing it until much later, it really does happen. And from what I've read, the signs of a heart attack are a bit different for women than men which makes them easier to misdiagnose. It's good they figured out why Ken's EKG was different and he can get his surgery done on Wednesday.

Happy Birthday Landyn!

Good morning folks

Thank you all for your thoughts, crossed body parts and prayers

Not yet officially a cyclone and still a tropical low, she will be called TC Debbie!

The latest tracking map gave cause for a sigh of relief which I think even you guys n’ gals might have heard.

Being a cyclone, this could change and my thoughts are still with anyone who will be in her path with a possible Cat 4 rating now when she does cross on possibly Tuesday. If this prediction happens, hubby and FIL will get some wind and rain but not the brunt as per yesterday’s map.

N F C Yep, I have been chatting to hubby and they are making the usual preparations.

Talking of dancing .. seeing Elaine in any reruns of Seinfeld takes me straight back to this and I start laughing:

Blooie Wow .. that is scary stuff! I think I read somewhere that they can also cause jaw pain.

Best wishes to Ken for Wednesday, he and you will be in my thoughts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANDYN from down under!

While we are talking about the heart; we had a friend in his 40’s who went to bed with “just indigestion” and did not wake up

And for no reason except to give myself a pat on the back … As you know, I had a heart scare myself which, while not turning out to be a heart attack, drew attention to the narrowing of a frontal artery and was a good wake up call for me. I am 5ft 10inches tall and while not being obese have always been a ‘heavy set’ body type. Since being in hospital I have dropped 8KG [17lbs] and I notice the difference!

After over a week of rain, only a 30% chance of a minimal amount today so it is going to be a good chance to dry out and spend some time with the girls

Teila, I'm keeping my body parts crossed until you can't see any part of that storm (named after me? what? lol). I'm glad you've been able to chat with your DH, it's always reassuring to be able to be able to hear the voice of a loved one.

You're a Seinfeld fan? Me too! A dancing Elaine is an unforgettable image

Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself since the heart scare.

Enjoy spending time with your girls!

Tee hee, yeah, I had a little

when I heard that 'Debbie' was the next name on the list of TC names. I was hoping that it would stay a tropical low and not get named but that does not look like it is going to happen.

Thanks again for your thoughts and support, I will keep everyone updated.

Telia, so glad the storm is moving in direction, wish it would go even further south. OMG you lost 17# - I found about 15 of those this past year
hit.gif
. But working hard to lose them.

Blooie - hope Ken's surgery goes without a glitch...
and Happy 4th Birthday to Landyn.

Debbie is not our Debby
wink.png
we all know she is sweet and never angry or destructive:)

Not too far south though, then it would be heading in my direction

I have been gradually reducing weight and that 17# has taken me since November. I love my food and I was not prepared to switch to rabbit food and tuna
wink.png
so just cut my portion size [in some cases by half] and no snacking in between the 3 meals a day.
