The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I'm so, so jealous ... would love to be there for the Debby and Blooie Meeting

. We demand loads of pics to document this great occasion.

We had horrible weather today, at least it passed thru quickly, Tornado's everywhere - or at least that's what you would think if you watched the local news. I was a work, and thankful for my Hencam, could see the coop was ok and just loads of wind and rain. But when the camera wasn't on line had to call DH, we just lost internet for a few hours

I posted a pic entry in the "natural egg" contest:

It's not that hard, but you have to be ready for pics, really, really quick

I wish you could be here with us Saturday too sunflour. I'm not sure the little town could take all 3 of us at once but it would be fun to try!

Are you saying you balanced that egg on end?? No glue? No gum? How did you do that?

Really do wish one day I could come out there to see y'all.

Yep, tried it first on a rough patterned plate, then wood and the finale on my granite topped butcher block.

The old tales are you can only do this only on the Spring Equinox, but you can really do it anytime....if there's calcium deposits on the shell and a steady hand then just turn it slowly til it balances. Then don't move or shake the floor..

Honest, one of my hen's eggs, cold from the fridge with no glue, gum or salt - for real. Betcha those perfect ones from the grocery won't work, but now we have to try and see

That's just really cool how that worked out! And your photo...like I said in the contest, love the colors. The egg just seems to glow.

Some day my friend, some day we'll meet up!

Great, now I'm going to be be trying to balance all my eggs, I already have enough quirky things to do every day. I have accepted the challenge.

There's always room for one more quirky thing to do in a day, lol. Let the egg balancing commence!

It's great for playing dominoes. Set them up in a row and just push the last in line. It's great fun.

This may be why you should leave the kitchen to the Princess

Ok then, let's see some pics - do have your camera ready, even a small shake rolls it over.

There is a way to cheat it ( to learn) - If you have a tiled counter, try first on a grout crossing, quite easy there.

Dry the egg and keep the bottom dry if it takes a few tries. Place the rounder side down and slowly turn the egg until it finds it's balance.

I want to try doing several, but doubt I cold get many standing before they spontaneously tumble
