The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Teila, isn't that just like the little ones to scare you that way? Silly chickens, I hope you gave them a good talking to.

Friday is C-Day!! DH is just kind of like, ok we've done this before, it will be nice to have chicks again. I'm like

I think I can safely say for both Blooie & I that we wish all of you could be here! That would be so much fun!

Glad you're feeling a bit better, take care of yourself!

That depends......Is it warmer there?

Warmer here in Wyoming than Ohio?

Oh heck no, lol.

We had snow fall just yesterday. I've already been warned we can get some as late as June.

And then there's the wind too. Nothing like a nice Wyoming wind to slap you in the face and make your car bobble all over the road.

Sounds pretty tempting, yes?

Hi Suzi18. Glad you could join us!

It was sunny here, now we have a shower passing through. I thought I was going to get some washing dried today! My DH has the same problem as yours Debby! I did have to giggle. It's rather cool here too. I'm actually dying to put the fire on and dry the house out after all this wet weather but it's not quite that cold. It might be tomorrow night though - crazy weather.

I can't wait to see chick pics! We don't have Cream Legbars here - they are so pretty though. Can I ask what a Sapphire chicken looks like?

Teila - those naughty bantams, scaring you like that! Hope you are feeling better. We had one town have to evacuate about 200 people due to the risk of flooding, but other than that ex-cyclone Debbie has just caused a few slips and a bit of flooding here and there. The beach down the road from us had some of the cliff behind it come down. The culvert at the bottom of our garden got up rather high but thankfully the rain eased off before it started heading towards my animals.

My Java finches have fledged and are starting to test out their wings. I had one take off off the edge of the table but it was a controlled fall more that flight! My DD has named the oldest one Cloud, the youngest Hiccup (she loves the How To Train Your Dragon books and movies), and then there is Rowdy, who is still the noisiest, but also very sweet and cuddly.

See, you have plenty of g-kids! And poor me, don't have any and not likely to (isn't that a sad story?) Thanks for sharing yours anyway, they're all great!

I wish I could get a couple of the Sapphires but there doesn't seem to be a way to sex them and I really can't have a rooster. I've asked for 2 of the Cream Legbars and 3 of the Welsummers. Bob said he also has a couple of SS left and I'd love to have them but I don't think I could tell a boy from a girl at this stage.

No word back from the builder yet but it's only been a few hours. He's probably still scratching his head trying to make rhyme or reason out of my 'chicken scratches'. I'd gladly settle for plain jane and practical over cute and that's what I've asked him for. Plus, to bring cost down, I said I would do the hardware cloth and all painting. We'll see what he comes back with.

I just got back from town picking up the chick stuff. Other than the plastic thermometer and metal feed container I forgot, got everything. You're more than welcome to come visit them Saturday but I'll warn you, they're going to be in my basement office and see first hand my homey mess. Definitely no pictures or stories allowed about that!

Blooie, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Saturday!

I'm thinking I'm a little jealous that you guys get to hook up

J Good news that XTC Debbie did not cause you too much grief. She definitely caused havoc over a huge area and Central Queensland is still feeling the effects of the flooding.

Oh and the tree finally got moved off the verge this morning by Council. I am not sure if the neighbour called them or just that they were doing the rounds of the debris and spotted it.
