The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hattie is very cute (as puppies are) but I remember our dog as a puppy! We'd never had a dog or been around puppies so we had no idea what to expect. Puppies really are something else!!!

Must be something in the water at the moment - there was a guy up north who went nuts and shot two people dead, wounded a third. They aren't sure how he managed to amass the amount of weapons he had (guns are not that common in New Zealand).

Blooie, it's great to have you back!

I have more bird drama. Two of Pinkie's eggs had pipped yesterday but it was so cold last night! And it's going to be very cold again tonight! It's too cold yet to check on them this morning but I sure hope they made it. The other two eggs look quite a few days behind so I'm wondering if I stick them in the incubator then try and give the chicks back to her when they hatch, but with this cold snap I don't know if they'll be ok. She won't sit on the two younger eggs as tightly with two chicks and they'll die if I don't put them in the incubator (I'm such a softy).

I went out to feed the chickens this morning and there was ice in quite a few places - one of them a bowl of water I decided to tip out (before I realised it was full of ice) - WOW that wasn't a great idea! On my bare hand it was FREEZING. My poor hands were aching they were so cold by the time I'd finished washing bowls and feeding everyone. Looks like we have two more nights of cold temperatures then it warms up a bit.

Luckily for me I have no one to photograph me. I don't have a cell phone so can't do selfies.

Years ago, when my son was "out to get me," he'd wait till I had stuffed my face with cookies, candy, brownies etc. and then photo blitz me. Not cute.

He has sorta grown out of that stage (31) , instead he hides just around the doorway and pops out to scare me. I told him I could die of a heart attack. He doesn't believe a bad scare can kill someone. :th

It all sounds like fun to me. I do that stuff to my dogs, they aren't impressed.:)

Morning & a good Saturday to all!

Love the new avatar photo Blooie, glad you had a good time and glad you're back. Congrats again on the new twins in the family.

DD, that sort of photo bombing would probably result in an "accidental" camera accident around here, lol.

DMC, glad you found a vet you really like. Hattie sounds like a busy, fun girl. Great pictures!

Sour, I've lost track...when does your g-son's team play again?

J, hope your new little ones are ok. Keep us posted (and pictures, if possible, are always good).

Busy day at the course yesterday. The weather was perfect and guess every golfer (or wannabe) in the county wanted to get out to enjoy it.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Pinkie had two babies by yesterday afternoon but I sure hope they are ok. It's 4.55am Sunday morning and the car is covered in ice, as is the aviary roof, the ground is glittering and it's COLD! I can't see the backyard yet. One more cold night then it's warming up again. And I did put Pinkie's other two eggs in the incubator. They would've died before hatching out there as that's what happened last time to the late eggs. She must lay in two batches!

Enjoy your weekend everybody! I'll get photos if I can Debby but I might wait a few days until the weather's a bit warmer.

Well the babies were fine when I checked on them. Pinkie was out this afternoon asking for food. Hopefully she's tucked them in well tonight - it's going to be another cold one.

Here are some photos from this morning. Everything was fuzzy with ice crystals and the mud was crunchy underfoot!

Thick ice that had formed on the water sitting on a tarpaulin:
