The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Well done both of you! Both recipes sound yummy. I'll have to have a good look around in the recipe section when I have a minute.

Just before my life gets completely insane with feedings I thought I'd share a photo of the little Bourke bub who hatched without problems at 10am this morning. It's just had it's first feed at 2pm which it seemed to enjoy. It's quite a chatty little thing. It hasn't completely dried yet and it's sooo cute! I think Pinkie Pie has her feathers full keeping its two older siblings warm enough in this weather so I'm going to be doing all the looking after for this little critter. Fingers crossed it all goes well!

Precious!!

Morning!

J, that baby in your hand is adorable :love You're a good bird-mom, I know you're up to the challenge.

Sour, believe me...I wasn't responsible for the backed up potties! Although taking a golf cart all the way to the outhouse on the 6th green was a rather scenic trip to make a couple (or four) times a day

Sunflour & Blooie, congrats on the contest win! I think the contest itself should win a prize for being such a long lasting one, lol.

Today's my almost day off! Need to go in early to make a couple things for the restaurant then fun time. J and I are going to take a leisurely drive up to Casper, there's some interesting scenery along the way and he wants to take photos. We're going to try to do a bit of shopping and lunch once we get to Casper (if I can navigate the big city).

Hope you all have a great day :frow

Have a fabulous day Debby. My best friends sisters live in Casper, how far is that from where you live?

I have all I can do to deal with chicken chicks sometimes! I don't know how you do it with those teeny, helpless little babies!!

Got a new car yesterday. It was about time - been chained to vans and mini-vans since 1983. This one has plenty of room for Kendra's chair in the back, but isn't nearly as big. So I'm a happy camper.

From my house to Casper outskirts is about 130 miles (or around 2 hours if you don't stop). The road we'll be taking crosses the Continental Divide twice and there are lots of pretty mountain scenes to see along the way. One of the things we want to check out along the way is Independence Rock. Here's what Wiki has to say about it:

Independence Rock is a large granite rock, approximately 130 feet (40 m) high, 1,900 feet (580 m) long and 850 feet (260 m) wide, in southwestern Natrona County, Wyoming, along Wyoming Highway 220. During the middle of the 19th century, the rock was a prominent and well-known landmark on the Oregon, Mormon, and California emigrant trails. Many of these emigrants carved their names on the rock, and it was described by early missionary and explorer Father Pierre-Jean De Smet in 1840 as the Register of the Desert.[3] The site was designated a National Historic Landmark on January 20, 1961.

We plan to stop at Devil's Gate too...
Devil's Gate or Devils Gate[1][2] is a natural rock formation, a gorge on the Sweetwater River in Wyoming a few[clarification needed] miles southwest of Independence Rock.[2] Although the actual route of travel did not pass through the narrow cleft, the site was a major landmark on the Oregon and Mormon trails, and is particularly significant in the history of the latter.

It's a beautiful day to get out for a drive and until now, I haven't had a chance to see these things other than from a moving car window. Should be fun!

Whoo hoo, good for you B! Enjoy the new wheels :ya

take photos

Hope your day was fabulous and you got loads of pics to share :)

Got a new car yesterday

My last one was only 15 years old and was dropping parts :hmm. I think yours was a Guinness Record?

Enjoy the new car smell - the hardest thing to get used to is the "bobble" instead of a key.
