The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Congrats on the new, delicious eggs Debby. Funny that they synchronised their efforts!

Glad to hear you are safe and sound OHLD - home is the best place to be.

Hope it was a good movie DD.

I'm over saving baby finches! They started hatching on Friday and the first two were fine, the third that hatched I couldn't get to eat and it had a rather large lump where I'm assuming the umbilical cord attaches that looked like it had bled a little. The fourth decided to commit suicide, managing to climb out of the container they were in and fall in the water well, drowning itself! The fifth never made it out of its egg and I wasn't surprised seeing as I kept having to open the incubator to feed the first two. The first out is a very strong chick that yells its head off for food. The second is still a bit touch and go but we shall see. I have one more morning of getting up early to them and then I can catch up on some sleep!

Little Squeak didn't get 4am feed this morning as he's 2 weeks old today. He'll get 5 feeds every 3 1/2 hours this week, dropping to 4 feeds then 3 then hopefully he'll be weaned. He's more aware now and sometimes gets startled by things. Here are a couple of photos:

:love Aww, sooo cute!

Yes I know it's not her cat. Your cats are Spuds than Opie. (one pure white, one orange tabby) :) Debby's cats are Pip and Bam Bam. (one silver, one black) but we all know each other's cats on here so that's why I said that. Note I didn't say your cat Debby. :hugs It hasn't been that long since I've been on here with y'all. :highfive:

Interesting to know each others pets, I have a hard time remembering anyone's name :hmm

Congratulations on the eggs too. I am home, bigger surgery than I had expected, will be out of it for a while. It's nice to be on my own couch.

So glad you are thru the surgery, hope you recover quickly :hugs

I thought the same thing, must be pheromones ;)

I'm over saving baby finches!

Somehow I do not believe that :). Glad Squeak is doing well.

Wish us luck, we are having 4 trees by my coop taken out tomorrow:

Thankful I will be working, so I don't have to be here to get more nervous. DH told the tree guys they would be better to drop one on him and not on my gals ;).

The ones with red X's are going - the largest (third from the left) by the coop is dying so we have to have it removed or risk it coming down in a storm. The others' removal will allow us to add a fenced in yard for the flock.

Good luck! I hope everything goes well without a hitch. :fl
