The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Morning everyone!

@CapricornFarm looking forward to seeing photos of the completed build :pop

Cold this a.m. in the low 30's and not expected to climb out of them all day. Seems like a good day to do inside stuff. Yesterday we put a row of baled straw all around the chicken run to help break the wind...the girls were a bit freaked out by it but I'm hoping that will make winter a bit more comfortable for them.

@DigMyChicks hope you get some dry weather so you can get your crops in.

Good morning Debby and all! There is rain coming again tonight. It is not good around here...it will be a couple weeks unless the weather changes to get the crop out.:flBales will help your girls alot. Last year we covered all sides but one on our one coop. The other is all tinned. It helped alot with the wind.

DMC, glad you're getting better. Maybe if you take a break the muscles will feel better.

Debby, sorry about the snow out, at least you and your DH were off a day together:)

Owls are chatty all thru the night and occasionally daytime as well here - we must have quite a number living close by.

Guess I skipped it somewhere, but are you building to replace your coop/run or adding more room for newbies?
I am still working on the coop i started when hubby was on vacation. It is divided in half so i can separate the two breeds. So it needed 2 runs. The littles are in the coop but can't get outside until i finish the run. There was only one shed here when we bought the place and a big lack of storage so we bought one 12x20 shed for a garage and one for a workshop. Next we are having a 12x20 built for my goat shed. Plus we are having the porch enlarged. It is hard to keep track of the projects around here!

Sounds like a good plan with the straw. I am looking forward to finishing this project but i still have 2 sides to put siding on and the run roof to finish. A woman's work is never done, lol.

Do you have a forest fire close by Ron?

Gotta say, I'm totally enjoying watching the snow! Do you suppose that feeling will last into April?
There a lot of them north of us. We cannot find information on a local fire so it is likely from one of the forest fires

I was going to make a quick run to town for beef stew makings. When I came [this] close to running over the antelope herd that was standing in the road, decided visibility wasn't great. Guess we're having pasta for dinner instead.

@ronott1 hope the wind changes direction or the fires burn out soon!
