The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

How well will it ship? It is a LONG way from here to WY!

I can't see her lounging around either because .... re-read the second sentence ;)

Silly...I excel in lounging! I was made to lounge! Compared to DH and others I see around here, I'm a natural born, died-in-the-wool expert lounger.

As for the desert recipe practice, one thing I learned this summer is if you have deserts available, people buy them. And you can make a lot of profit off them! And you can eat the ones that are duds. So see, there's always a pay off with baking. Of course with that pay off, comes pounds so that's the down side.

I got a cute photo yesterday. Pinkie Pie has a helper - her daughter, Rosie, that I ended up hand rearing. Rosie was one of their first chicks and she started looking a lot smaller than her brother. I took both chicks as I thought keeping them together was kinder. Her brother, Pie, has never been an overly friendly bird - he's a bit highly strung. Pinkie doesn't seem to mind and I know Rosie is feeding the chicks as she has food all over her beak. These babies are very calm too and I can pat them without them getting scared. I'll have to clean out their box soon so hopefully they'll continue to take it all in stride.

And a cute cockatiel photo:

When you have very few feathers getting cleaned up after meals makes you cold.

Go Debby chicken! You can do it! Wouldn't a tie be funny?!

@Teila you have been working hard! I think your elbow deserves a break! It looks amazing though - I'm sure you'll be glad of all that shade come summer.
That is so cute to see!

Veronica humbly accepts your acknowledgement. We hope Debby gets in that nest soon!

I don't think either of us would have minded the new avatar. Certainly fits me a lot of the time!

The avatar is quite cute :) I am expecting eggs soon, just hope they lay them in a nest. Problem is they are still sleeping in the "small coop" but frequent the "big coop"...we're checking both nests daily. But my past flock laid first eggs anywhere - on the ramp, under water fount, etc.

That is great! I wonder if I could do the farmers market thing and sell desserts. We have a relaxation of codes in CA that allows us to sell baked goods that do not have milk products in them without a license. One problem is the fee charged by the market though

You should definitely check into selling your baked goods at the farmer's market Ron. You're a terrific baker and you'd be surprised what people will pay for that sort of thing. Guess they like the convenience and know that if they buy just a few, they won't over-indulge. I can get a higher profit margin on the deserts I make than just about any other food item in the restaurant. In addition to deserts, your homemade bread would fit in very well at a farmer's market!

I have had people want to buy bread and desserts from me. A person at work wanted a cheese cake for Thanksgiving. I was traveling so did not get to do that though.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy...but wonder if the co-worker expected it free? I love to sew, but when someone asks me to do FREE alterations...I'm indifferent.:duc
