The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I always heard you bathe them in tomato soup/juice can't recall. The neighbors dog and my niece's dog both got skunked the same day (though over 1000 miles apart and different skunks)
For a skunked dog, mix one cup of baking soda into a quart of hydrogen peroxide, add a few squirts of dish soap. Apply, let sit a bit than rinse. Use all the mix and don't keep it in a sealed container. I have had to deskunk dogs, 4 of them at midnight, a time or two. Thankfully one is smart enough to run the other way.

Home from running to town. Actually, the wind blew me all the way home. I-80 is closed to all high profile vehicles for the 100 mile stretch between Laramie and Rawlins. It's kind of nerve-wracking driving on the highway, semi's have flipped over when this crazy wind starts up and I sure don't want to be next to one when that happens.

I'm staying inside for the rest of the day (and the poor chickens are huddled under their coop hanging on for dear life :)).

No but were you to smell one, you would say "PEE UUUU, that must be skunk!" At least I did the first time I smelled one. It was on the road. You learn something about skunks fast. If you see one on the road ahead (99% of the time dead) get your car to "recirculate" FAST. Too late once you can smell it, especially if you pass over it.

It will likely SLOWLY wear off ... until she gets wet, then it will come back. I hope she never comes in the house or the entire place will likely smell of skunk for some time. You nose will probably learn to ignore it, but your guests might wrinkle their noses ;)
She doesn’t come in the house other then the first day we got her and introduced her to the cats. She smells better already...must be the 30 mph winds helping out!

She must not have gotten a full hit from the skunk either. When the wind dies down you will have to let us know if she stinks more or less.

It is 79* out so I am sitting on my deck. Thank goodness for this beautiful day! It’s supposed to rain tomorrow which is not good for us...wish I could send it to those who need it. Hubby went out in his wet bean field yesterday and today...so far I haven’t heard he’s stuck. If he doesn’t finish today he won't try for the rest due to the rain coming again.

That sure is wet! Hope he doesn't get stuck and that you have a little more sunshine to get more of your crop in. :fl
