The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Yeah, i have to be up early and my mind is racing. I did take a pill, it should work sooooooonnnn...zzzz
I see it's working already! :gig

Hopefully it's a magic pill. ;) I'm going to have a bite and then mosey back to bed. I should be able to sleep again. I woke up worrying about the roosters. Their night light burnt out and I shut their light off before I laid down. The OEGBs were still on the floor goofing around. It looks like a rat has dug up out of the one crack in the floor and I was worried the rat might hurt one of the little guys.

I have a hand full of actual night lights I'll put in for them for tomorrow night.:love I turned on the lights for tonight. I don't think I'll go out and install them tonight. (The boogeyman!!) ;)

Around here i worry more about varmints than boogey men. DH saw a bear in the driveway one day.
So goodnight, going to catch some zzzs.

Luckily we only see a bear every 10 years or so. Still, I don't want to meet up with any larger varmints either. The boogeyman or varmints...either way it's a long walk to the shop and there are no light in the yard right now. I drove there and put their lights on...they'll be fine now until morning. They sleep fine with the lights too.:clap:love

Sweet dreams!!

Not sleeping, just keep thinking about projects plus i have a song stuck in my head. :he

What song?

I once went to to buy metamucil...there are so many types!

I find putting a big 'ol smile on for navigating the store helps. It's really more so I don't scare anyone (my husband was just conveying to me again today how scary I seem to people...lol) but it also helps lubricate the workings with people. They not only seem to respond better to a big 'ol smile but they also don't seem to give as much attitude back at you if you have to ask them to move. Unless I'm still just scaring people and don't know it.....:gig

I definitely concur.

Drinking a more water is a good start and it's good for you and your organs; liver, kidneys etc.to help flush your system. Especially if you've been eating salt and sugar.

Prepackaged foods and goodies can have a surprising amount of salt and sugar. If you eat salad dressings, some can have a surprising amount of sugar and likely salt. Just one tablespoon of ranch dressing (calorie wise) contains 1 gram of sugar and 140 mg of salt...lol. And up here...a lot of foods labeled fat free tend to substitute sugar for taste and can be higher in sugar than the regular/calorie reduced varieties. Salad dressing and yogurts are a couple things that I've noticed this on. One serving of milk, which is a cup, has 12 grams of sugar. I can only drink 1/4 to 1/3 cup of milk at a time with other high protein foods. (slows down the absorption) I take that cue from the hospital, they served it in half a cup amounts when I was pregnant with gestational diabetes.

That's just a few tips of things to watch out for...but I agree with the others. If you are showing up with prediabetes...it's so much better to catch it now and control it. It could helps things to be much better for you later on. :)

Yeah, it's amazing how much sugar there is in everything! Yet I still eat it ha I knew ranch had sugar but didn't realize it had quite that much!! I've been buying these prepackaged salads lately that just come with a little cup of dressing. It's barely enough but probably good for calories and sugar. They are very expensive though so I might have to just start making my own and using less dressing hah

And yes, milk has so much sugar! It's gross. Yet I drink a lot of it. Not as much as I used to but with snacks and stuff.

Or with cereal. And we have these huge bowls, not sure how big they are but they're quite large, and I fill them almost to the top with cereal and then same with milk. Wayyyyy more than the serving size.

But thankfully I don't really like cereal that much anymore. Doesn't fill me up like it used to and for some reason sometimes the grain or milk makes me sick or scrapes up my mouth? Especially with honey nut Cheerios.

As for water, usually I don't drink anything almost all day or at least barely anything and then I'm thirsty and drink a ton right before bed. OR. When I do drink, I don't sip anymore. I chug bottles or glasses of water really fast

I wouldn't go that far to say milk is gross. Those sugars are key to the newborn calf to get it up and going, especially if the calf's brown fat reserves have been used up.;) Plus it's nutritious for us...not just empty calories and sugar. Moderation is the key to most foods.

I drink water for all my meals and finish with a coffee/tea. I start with a glass of water plus my meds before I make the coffee for my breakfast. That way I start out hydrated. Water also can help to control food cravings...because you're body's really needing water, not food. I'm making myself thirsty writing this. Going for a glass! :gig
