Bruceha2000 The mechanic did not want to replace the coolant until he knew for sure that all the leaks were repaired; didn’t want to waste/lose $60 worth of coolant. So, as the car is due for its 150,000km service anyways, booked it in for that on hubby’s next RDO and we will also know then that she has not been overheating and it is safe to replace the coolant, flush the cooling system etc.

Just a reminder that I am going to be AWOL for a few days, off to Brisbane and the work Christmas Party.

I found an egg from Veronica in the community box this morning. There was another dark egg in there late this afternoon. I think that means Betty is FINALLY laying. Guess I'll have just the 4 to carry through the winter since the Exchequer Leghorns started, then quit.

It is very nice when they finally start laying eggs. I have 4 that should start up soon.

Should be pretty blue eggs too

About 2 hours from here, i have not been there. Long drive for feed, i don't have that many to feed.

checkout his truck routes. He's actually got a distribution point in TN, but it's too far away and its hard to stomach $197 for freight. He prices one bag at the same rates as if you buy a ton. That's rare. I'll often plan trips to visit DD just prior to hatching turkeys so I can buy 10 bags of turkey starter from him. I don't need a ton and he's just off the highway on my way back to VA.

I just went out to poke the bonfire. It was down to just red glowing areas because the center burnt out. Push it all the way to the center and it is now burning brightly. Love to see the woods getting cleaned up around here!
I went to check on the chickens and close the solar heater. One of the pullets came outside and wanted to go in but i sent her back to the coop and shut it up.

We had fun tonight... One of the girls managed to get caught between the cattle panel and chicken wire and tarp. How she got there I'll never know, but her commotion drove all the birds out of the shelter. Waited an hour and found all the birds in the pasture, so we escorted them back into the shelter. They are now sleeping soundly on their perches.

We had fun tonight... One of the girls managed to get caught between the cattle panel and chicken wire and tarp. How she got there I'll never know, but her commotion drove all the birds out of the shelter. Waited an hour and found all the birds in the pasture, so we escorted them back into the shelter. They are now sleeping soundly on their perches.

Most of mine are perching now, hatched in August. Sometimes they get lazy and huddle together on the floor. I need to add higher perches soon.
I did add an automatic timer for the light, i love not having to think about putting it on or off.

Indeed. I get firewood from him as well. He's up to $200/cord dropped in my yard. But that may be a thing of the past. Sounds like he is giving up doing firewood. He's now 70. Doesn't mind cutting and blocking but the splitting and stacking is getting to be a bit much. Guess I'll have to start doing my own trees. Lots of trips for me though, I only have a garden tractor and a dump cart. Not sure how much of a larger trailer the GT could pull through the field.

But yeah, it makes sense to just get the better hay for the same price lol

Unless you have alpacas or llamas. They should not have high protein feed. They evolved at very high elevation where the grasses aren't so "rich".

This is why I love BYC, I always learn something new- no matter what it pertains to.
I think Alpacas are pretty neat and I think friendlier than Llamas.

I rarely was able to alfalfa in TN any way, but it seems to me that it is not good for them to have much of it... male goats that is
