Only if you'll take an XL dog mattress in return. Merlin had no interest in it.

Of course there are 2 extenuating circumstances:
- It would likely cost more for each of us to ship to the other than to just buy locally.
- As you mentioned to @KDOGG331, different locales have different needs

I wonder though if there are some grasses I could plant that would grow later into the late fall. The boys are really scrounging for something green out in their ~3/4 acre that surrounds the pond behind the barn. They do of course have as much hay in the barn as they want but now that it is cool/cold, they are outside most of the time. They hadn't touched the hay I put in their indoor feeder 3 days ago and their water bucket was still full. Even today when it was just above freezing with winds gusting over 40 MPH. They were standing out there like it was comfortable, I guess it is for THEM. I "made" them come in for their morning snacks. I had no intention of standing out in that wind hand feeding them. And that lack of desire will continue as it gets colder so they might as well get used to coming in to get their pellets.

I'm not really sure about the shipping cost, but I wasn't planning on seding ya a 50# bag either....I was thinking of stuffing as much as I could in a large flat-rate box and sending it....maybe a couple of pounds to try out this next Spring or ground thaw, but if ya want it to last into the fall maybe mid to last part of June would be better....or do a half and half test to see. I appreciate the offer on the mattress, but Joyce made her one from some scraps she had.... ...so we should be good on that front....

I haven't ever seen them near the pond, I am surprised. They walk around the far side and sometimes through the tall grass/weeds on the edge of it through the summer looking for things to eat but never (to my knowledge) go down from the barn side where I've uncovered the ledge that forms that side of the pond. Easy walking right to the water. THOUGH when it is hot, the water is really warm and has lots of algae unless we are getting a lot of rain.

No need to put the hay outside, if they want it, they know where to find it They were in some this afternoon, I gave them some sweet feed (yes I AM bribing them) and they were eating hay afterward. They were out in their pasture at "closing time" this afternoon. I put the chickens' scratch on the coop floor (to encourage them to go in the coop rather than stay out in the alley. That way I can lock them in). I hand fed the boys outside then went in and waited for the chickens to all go in the coop. The boys came in and ate some hay. I never know what they are thinking.

Huh, interesting. I winder where they're getting their water from then? Or do you have an outside bucket?

And hmm, that's true. I probably spoil mine and would put hay outside ha but then that might just make the problem worse so doing what you do is probably better.

Too expensive. I paid $16 for 50lbs. I could get it for half that if i went to the farmer in Danville.

Wow really!? I thought that was pretty cheap or at least fairly reasonable (definitely not cheap) because when I Googled it, everything else was like double that price or it was like $20 or $30 for a bag wayy smaller. Like 11 pounds. One might have even been 3.. so when I saw this I was like wow cheap!

But I think I was looking im the wrong places. I think maybe our feed store might have something cheaper. Although I don't know if they even carry it. I guess I need to look around.

Winter wheat is fine, depending on the purpose ya are using it for. Personally, I don't prefer to plant something that attains a great deal of height to it and requires cutting it down....with any grain plant once it heads and is finished it doesn't just simply fall over and decompose as grasses do, they have to be cut....I only have a riding lawn tractor....so that gets to be a difficult task when the plant is 3-8' tall....depending on the grain and the variety of that grain. What I sow is what I prefer to deal with and the goats prefer to eat. My goats don't eat much hay at all and it is mainly because I keep something growing for them to eat, basically year round. My sole purpose in sowing anything was to feed the goats and after doing the research and some experimentation, I have settled on what I do now. However, I will say that my neighbor, who is a deer hunter, has tried a whole bunch of different stuff to draw deer to his place, but he sees more deer consistently on our property grazing....he is still planting a myriad of things, but what I grow...

Thanks! So what do you grow again? Rye, winter peas, and clover? Do you buy that separate or in a premade mix thing? And you think that stuff works better for attracting the deer?

I tried a deer mineral block, BOSS, corn, apples, nothing works. Although we do see them in the neighborhood and occassionally here. And I don't wake up till like noon so maybe I miss all the deer lol although the dog usually does not miss them

I never had winter wheat grow that tall. Some critter usually eats it first. But it may be different here. I also have a bag of a mix of different seeds. So we will see.

I wonder if you could cut it by hand if you planted a small amount?

We lucked out and found an L.L Bean one at the dump in October. At first he wouldn't use it unless bribed and then he wouldn't stay on but then we put a fleece blanket on it and now he loves it. I think it smelled like other dogs at first.

Yeah that happens. More "features" added and more bugs fixed yield ... more bugs. Code gets complex and "but I didn't touch that part" can still surface a never before seen error.

@KDOGG331 I buy mine separate....our local feed store will sell it by the pound or a 50#bag, but when ya are talking clover seed....that is enough to plant about 50acres depending on the ratio ya are wanting to achieve, so I got 10# three years ago and it was way more than enough. Here are a couple of pics of the grass and peas growing in the pasture.... ....and here is a closer one of some of the peas growing.... ....I didn't get things sown until the beginning of Oct this year, because I was waiting on some rain...it was really dry until then.

To be honest, I am not sure I am managing I am a little snippy, grumpy and burnt out. Just seem to be having a run of issues following the last release.

Oh yeah, I forgot, that is just tickets, does not include phone calls for which I am also the first port of call and lately, anyone calling has been told to log a ticket

I had to implement a policy, no ticket no help. Too many people would call in and no record of support and it put funding in jeopardy.

I went and closed the pop doors, all the chickens are in. It had started raining and someone unplugged the light cord again. I suspect DH did it by accident but i was not pleased at another trip back and forth in the rain. Now i feel chilly!

I'll have to check if my feed store has something like that! I know tractor supply has the deer mixes but I'd rather buy it seperate. I bet our local store has something. And if not, i will travel hah

We actually have a lot of clover in the back and side yard but the deer never go back there. The chickens like it alright though

Yeah, I think someone might have made a boo boo on this one though. From the communications we are getting from upper management, I just get the feeling that the lack of information is to cover someone's butt Normally if there is an issue, the front line is kept up-to-date with heaps of information to assist with keeping the users up-to-date. This time, we are really not being told anything except what is being sent out to the users via e.mail. Lots of "we are working to fix it" and "aim to have it restored by tomorrow" but no information as to the actual cause of the issue.

When I fix via a phone call, I log a ticket for record purposes because as you point out, no record of the call or fix means it does not show up as work done.

Not only that but people who have done the right thing and logged a ticket have to wait while queue jumpers get fixed via the phone. Not fair in my book. I only do systems access issues and password resets via the phone.
