The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I missed everyone so much but after being gone for so long I wasn't sure just exactly how to wiggle back in! So I took the coward's way out and figured at this point I'd probably stay gone. Merry Christmas!!

@Blooie I done tol' ya, gal, you're ohana.:hugs I was just thinking, "it's Christmas, the time when family and friends get together. Maybe some long-lost members will show up and say 'hi,'' - and you were on the top of the list of folks I was hoping would do it. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Still have to read the rest of the posts but WELCOME BACK @Blooie !!!

And @ronott1 do you still have that white sauce recipe and/or a good, fairly plain mac & cheese? It's somewhat am emergency. My mom told my brother and family I had a recipe and would make it. Except I lost it cause the thread moves fast. We are having people over for the football game so i dont have much time to buy the ingredients and make it now. My own fault for waking up so late (I think 1030). But yeah. My brother also just informed me it's the only thing his girlfriend likes...... so it's important...

Basic White Sauce Recipe

For years, Lois Gelzer of Standish, Maine has used this smooth sauce to make many dishes, including the two shared here. "The recipe can easily be doubled or tripled," she says.

TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 10 min.YIELD:8 servings

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
Dash white pepper

1 cup 2% milk

Directions

1. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Use immediately or refrigerate. Yield: 1 cup.

Add a cup or so of good cheddar cheese to the white sauce after it thickens. Play around with other spices to taste.

You can double the sauce if you want more. Pour over cooked pasta--we like small shells

Gee, I don't know whether to pop in and say hi now or wait a few more days and bask in the compliments! Guess I'm kinda like a rash that hangs on and on, but when it goes away you find you miss it because scratching it at least gave your fingers something constructive to do!
I think you did fine!

And we DO talk about you. Of course it is always "I miss Blooie, hope she is OK", nothing mean. So now when we talk about you it will be relative to something you've posted because we won't be missing you. :love

I, for one, am glad you are staying put, although I know it puts a crimp in your plans for Christmas. We're dreading the drive just to Billings today, and it's a balmy -11 degrees. The road report said that the road to Billings is "slick in spots". When you've lived here long enough, you know that that means "hold on to your knickers!"
