Good Morning Friends :hugs

I have a new love in my life! [Do not tell hubby :p] Mr Arlec Evaporative-Cooler and I are going to be spending a great deal of time together. Not only does he work well, he is handsome and comes with a remote control so I can turn him down or OFF! :lau

I love the chickenpox pic N F C! :lau

Thank you for the orange tip Blooie :thumbsup

Saturday morning. Forecast is for a maximum of 89.5F, partly cloudy and a 50% chance of more rain .. looks like the wet season is finally here for real.

Plans for today, trip in to town to pick up some feed for the girls and some groceries. Home to pot the new, grassy plant hubby also bought me to put near the ponds. Potter in the garden between showers. In summary, my kind of day .. nothing that actually desperately needs doing and just enjoyable pottering :D

That's great Teila, you should be a lot more comfortable now!

I took pictures last time I did it. We like to get Cara Cara oranges when they are available at Costco - a big bag because doing them this way they actually get eaten instead of just sitting in the bag. They are a reddish color and sweet as all get-out. I usually do 6-8 at a time. Here ya go, and I hope they're in order. I'm going to put them up full size instead of thumbnail because it's easier for me to caption them that way. I'm old, and need to see what I'm doing.

Cut the oranges in half.

Use a grapefruit knife with a strongly curved blade and run it around the orange.

After you get all the way around, gently lift. The orange half will pop right out. Sometimes I have move and wiggle the blade a little bit to sever the blossom and stem ends, but rarely.

See? A perfect little orange half with no effort.

One orange, prepped and ready to eat!

In no time at all I have a bowlful of oranges to snack on whenever I want.

Got this little grapefruit knife at Walmart many years ago. Because the blade is so strongly curved, it is my favorite one to use.

See? Easy peasy!! I discovered this over Christmas a couple of years ago when I was making Orange Sweet Potato Cups. My family loves them, but "remove the pulp from the orange halves" left me with a big mess and nothing usable but the shells. So I tried this to get the orange "meat" out, and we have been doing it ever since.
I love Cara Cara oranges. I just bought some at Walmart.

I tried out the new tennis ball slingshot thing for the dog today. We both like it. Easier on my arm, no splinters like from the big stick and she has to run further. Super!

So you got a slingshot and not the auto launcher or the chuckit? It seems like it's working out pretty well.

Not to throw a cold blanket on anyone, especially when it’s already so cold, but a friend was murdered today in Lovell, 6 miles from Cowley. Carol was from Cowley but had moved to Lovell recently.. Her brother, John, lives behind us and I worked closely with him when I was on the town council. He’s been our town all around maintenance man for many years, and his sister was just as sweet as he is. She was warm, always smiling, always had a good word for everyone. She worked at the grocery store with Kenny. Katie, Kendra, and Evan would look for her behind the cash register. She used to let Evan and Katie come behind the counter and scan some of their groceries.

Details are still sketchy, but the man who stabbed her to death is in custody. He was caught in Mills City, near Casper. Our entire community is in shock and so saddened. Please add the Barnes family to your prayers tonight.

How horrible! Great that the police have the suspect in custody!
