The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Long johns went on in November and will be the undergarment of choice until the spring thaw.
My husband does the same. He does work outside year round, so it's kinda a necessity here in Wisconsin.

No more baby cockatiels for me - the breeder lets his birds have two rounds of chicks and then it's time for a break until next season. I have to say I'm having baby bird withdrawal! I've just listed the last 5 babies so hopefully they'll find homes soon. That's why I'm looking forward to tomorrow when the Button quail should hatch in the aviary. I'll be keeping a close eye on them though as we have gale force winds predicted for Tuesday. We should get a bit of rain too, not that it's supposed to cool off at all. It's stinking hot already outside and I still need to go and feed the chickens and quail.

Good luck with your quail hatch! Baby quail pictures are fun to look at too (although I'm going to miss those tiny cockatiel babies until next year).

Good Morning Friends and thank you! :hugs

Hey Diva the girls are great! Cilla has just been broken from being broody. They are coping pretty well with the heat but they have a beautiful, shady spot and watermelon available pretty much when they want it. They are probably more comfortable in their run than I am in the house ;)

Yep, do it Cap! :clap

Stay safe those whose weather is severe. Predicted maximum today is 98.5F :sick

Plans for today [copy and paste from last Sunday :p] finish the housework, load of washing, grocery shopping then back to the garden!

Watering to be done and give everything a feed with Thrive. Then, repot the birds nest fern my neighbour gave me last night :clap plant the beautiful ground cover she also gave me :clap and the plant she gave me whose name I forgot. I will share some pictures later!

The birds nest fern is in desperate need of a bigger pot and is not very healthy but she was going to toss it out! I do not think so! :D

You wear me out Teila! All I have done today is laundry, chocolate chip cookies, making my bed and a couple trips to the coop.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of the new stuff in the yard! Nice of your neighbor to share.

Teila, if you can send me just 10 or 15 degrees, I'd be grateful.:bow Can't wait to see the pix I love seeing how it all shapes up.

:hugs We actually had a good day today!

FIL and I had a laugh together today over something and we also made a connection kind of. The blue dolphin he purchased many years ago for his now deceased wife [10 years] during her chemotherapy. It was under the house, collecting dust. So, with his permission, after purchasing the blue bird bath, I bought the dolphin out from under the house, cleaned it off and positioned it. I think he liked the gesture and for the first time, seemed interested in something I had done in the garden.

I also find myself much more relaxed today, probably because I was in the garden, which I love. I am starting to think that it is partly due to work. It is a stressful job and during the week, my stress levels would be higher but on the weekend, I am able to cope more with those things that would normally annoy me during the week; if that makes sense.

Aww that's awesome.

I do not mind, I love gardening. Also, I am the only one who does like gardening ;)

That makes sense. I just never thought of mowing as gardening I suppose haha plus, not that I am for this, but i usually think of guys as doing the mowing the lawn part and girls as doing the pretty stuff hah but that's awesome you do it all :D

Good morning all!

Bob & Cap and anyone else with freezing weather, be careful out there. That stuff is so dangerous!

Teila, the yard is look gorgeous, your hard work is showing! Glad you and FIL were able to make a bit of connection over the dolphin :)

Jae, any more little birds coming your way?

Kelsey, nice looking cherry pie!

Blooie, nice looking margarita! :D

Thanks! I don't quite know what happened to the crust, that has never happened before, but oh well hah

That is a lot of STEEP!

My fav. There are plenty of tasty pies but cherry is BEST.

:lau:gig

Of course you should!

Cherry is definitely delicious!

I'm personally partial to apple but cherry has been growing on me.

Plus we only had canned apple filling and canned apple is just NOT good.

So I made cherry. :D

It's my parent's favorite too I think.

Bermuda shorts over long johns, and a mink coat over a tank top. You will be the talk of the town. :ya

Or if we had a photo, at least the talk of BYC. :gig

:lau

You guys are hilarious!

My husband does the same. He does work outside year round, so it's kinda a necessity here in Wisconsin.

I imagine it's very cold! What sort of work requires being out year round?

KD, you really need to stop with all those carbs and sugars! You have a long life ahead, IF you take care of your body. Get more exercise, it will decrease your hunger. You can go blind, lose limbs and have organ failure. Go to Weight Watchers or some program , you need support with this. Do you have anyone to go with?

No Joke KD. I take 500 mg. Metformin once a day and get my AIC test as the doctor wants me too.

Lipitor increases blood sugar among other bad stuff, and that's when my blood sugar started going up. However Lipitor(generic) at only 10 mg. a day brought my chloresteral numbers down to normal ( in 3 mos.)

It's give and take.

Maybe a different drug, lipitor has been shown to promote diabetes. Lots of statins out there.

thanks!

One last thing, then I really really have to go do some stuff!

Those are gonna scare me lol

I always wanted to be invisible - how does it feel?

Have you never been somewhere where people don't look at you? Its a weird feeling .

I had that happen when I was out jogging. I would say hi and got now response, even a glance. I began wondering if I had died on the Jog and was a trapped spirit that would run on forever....Then it occurred to me that they were all listening to ear buds....

*sigh* "Normal," really - or anyway, you get used to it.

Ah these are just sad :( :hugs

True tho too

I would love to be invisible - not permanently though.

I strive for this especially at social gatherings. Just let me be in my corner.

I am so very, very normal - probably the most normal person you will ever meet. I'll bet I could become accustomed to being invisible.

Hah

Good Morning Friends :hugs

KD I hope you are able to determine and resolve your appetite issues. I agree that it definitely needs checking out.

N F C glad you are feeling better.

Blooie is your ‘button pusher, getting on your nerves’ reasonably new and very active? We may have the same affliction :p

and .... :lau :gig You guys n' gals crack me up and are a wonderful start to my day!

I have a doctors appointment today, basically just to get a script for my cholesterol medication [coronary artery disease] which I am on for life now. Anyhow, because it will be a short visit, I am thinking I might ask him about my current situation. In summary, from the minute I get up, I am either caring for something, being talked at, helping people at work, working at work or in the house or in the garden. During the week I get 45 minutes a day to myself when I ride my bicycle and walk. I am a quiet person who does not need entertaining and treasures my alone time, of which I am not getting much. I do not like 'loud' or confrontation and there are many loud triggers in my life at the moment which I can feel causing me to tense up. Weekends are great, I retreat to the garden.

Anyways, I am going to ask the doctor if there is anything I can do to 'drown out' these loud triggers. I am jealous of hubby who has the ability to zone out and not hear things and on talking to him, he suggested noise cancelling head phones :lau Kinda obvious sitting across from the dinner table or walking around the house!

I do not want any medication to chill me out, but I am thinking there must be something available .. like a hearing aid I can turn down :p

I can not fix the cause so hoping to find something that I can do to fix how it makes me feel.

I may just have Misophonia :p

Thanks teila! and i hope you are able to get unstressed out
