If DH and FIL make junk unsuitable for human consumption when it is their turn to cook, what happens if you tell them you will make dinner every night? They can do the dishes and maybe pick up another chore you would normally do.
Hey
Bruce not a stoopid question!
DH is a pretty good cook and cooks us fresh food, it is only on FIL’s days that the microwave gets a workout
I quite like cooking but they do not like doing dishes and I am not doing both as I think I already do more than my fair share
So, the compromise is that FIL cooks 3 nights, hubby 4 and I do all the dishes.
I do, on occasion, take one of FIL’s nights, like today with his getting back late etc; but I think offering to take all his nights might offend him [which I do not want to do] and it does give him something else to do other than sitting in front of the computer.
If it makes sense, I want him to still have some responsibilities or he will become totally inactive. I clean the house but I do not do his washing and while we all love his dog Jessie, unless he is not home, while we may accompany him on her walks, he has to do them and feed her etc. As it is, he rarely leaves the house except to walk Jessie and only goes in to town once a fortnight or so to get supplies for her and something to nuke

The venture he is on today is a big one for him and probably a once every 12 months thing.
When he is not able to do things, I will do them for him but for now, I think it is actually good for him to contribute.
Also, their idea of ‘doing the dishes’ is not the same as mine and I would still end up having to clean up after them
So, yeah, while I may whinge/vent about the 'glow in the dark' meals, I am partly at fault
