I've successfully moved Mama and babies out into the aviary. She's very protective of them and I had to remove one adult from the group who was going to chase them relentlessly, but everyone seems very relaxed now. By the looks of it I have three boys in the bunch - look at those red/orange tails. At the moment my unusual brown baby (far left) looks like a girl.
This is our new Bourkes boy who is the wild colouring. He's only a couple of months old.
And here's his girlfriend, the beautiful, and sweet, Ruby Red. She's a Rubino and by using a wild boy I should eventually get some Lutinos (lighter pink with all yellow wings) as well as more Rubinos of both genders when I breed one of their male offspring with our other Rubino hen, Daffodil. That's the plan!
It'll be awhile yet before these two breed as the male needs to be at least 6 months old (which will be the middle of winter).
