The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good Morning. I've only been able to peek in to see what y'all are up to.

Hope you didn't catch it from me. I have tried to wash my hands before visits here :) I caught a sinus/bronchitis infection - even accepted horrible shots that didn't work, but after 10 full days of oral antibiotics, I am recovered :ya. Still have to work even when ill, and the work load has been a record high this year. Days off, I've been rather sedentary with frequent naps and OMG watching daytime tv :barnie.

DH finished getting the chicken playground done - Thursday was a mild but cloudy day and we were able to let the gals explore their new area. Sorry I didn't get pics, but it was awesome to see them explore and enjoy it. We found a really old egg in their compost bin - I'm certain it was a Wellsummer's but so faded the colors were really patchy and pale. So, for sure I have no egg eaters in the bunch :jumpy.

Yesterday DH found 4 Wellie eggs in the nest boxes :wee....definite proof all are now laying :) I was sure all were laying but now have proof. And even Road Runner - my almost 5 year old BR has started laying again since her molt ended.

@N F C - hope you just have a cold and not feeling really bad, and have a quick recovery.

@Michelle Farmer-Brown - so sorry Pig is ill, hope he/she is getting better.

@JaeG - the cake is awesome, you do have talent.

@CapricornFarm - you are an inspiration - always so busy on your projects, and OMG you actually finish them. :bow

@Teila - your gardens are gorgeous, you do have landscaping talent. Will have to look up the YB sunbirds, it's fun to be able to have a nest in an area to watch and see them raise a family:) - I love the close bluebird nest outside a window and carolina wrens nest on my deck every year. And I love Hootie and the Frog - great finds.

"Clutter" :lau ---- you have no clutter IMO - wish I had the guts to post mine. I have been watching the "hoarders" to get motivated to clean out my garage and junk rooms.

Sorry to hear you've been ill :hugs Seems like you were just getting over something the last time we chatted. Ugh, and sorry to hear you've been watching daytime tv too

Hooray on all the girls laying! Now I really wish my girls would show some indication they were so inclined. But nope, not yet!

Congrats on getting the outside area done for your girls. I'm sure both you and them will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I’m looking for a cookies n cream frosting that will be good and hold up well for graduation cupcakes. I didn’t love the last one I made but they went over well. It’s the cupcakes on the right. I used a buttercream but am looking for something lighter and fluffier.

Your cupcakes are beautiful, they look very professionally done. I hope you'll share photos of the ones you make for the graduation!

DD I gave up soda years ago. For me it's ice tea, coffee, or Canadian whiskey, of course I can also do the occasional bourbon. But I don't pollute my coffee, tea or whiskey.

Just remembered your comment Bob...you're a purist I see

Good morning everyone.

Those cupcakes are to die For! I love the cookie monsters.

Hope the cold doesn't turn into a bad one Debby.

Glad you're on the mend @sunflour .

You ain't seen clutter until you see my place. It's shameful actually. We've got less than 300 sq ft here. The worst is, with no running water and no sink there are dirty dishes everywhere. I'm actually really disgusted by it all. Maybe I'll work on melting lots of snow today and attempt to get caught up.

I just woke up, so haven't been to see piggy (aka roast) today. While I was at work yesterday someone came by and gave him a penicillin shot. Evidently it was a sight to be seen. When Helen got into the sleeping box where he was lying and tried to insert the needle he went flying out of there. 3 senior citizens running around trying to catch him while his bigger brother kept trying to protect him. Wish I'd been here for that one. So, from what I can tell, it was worms. From what I can understand worm can actually strangle an animal.

Love the sign in your avatar Cap! I'm assuming it's another one of your creations. My question is, why Home Depot orange?
No, it is a metal Purina sign i got free when i bought feed at the local Souther States store. I found a much cheaper place to buy feed now.

Your piggy story reminded me of when we used to see the pig races at the county fair in FL. Those were fun! Hope Roast gets better soon!

Cheaper feed is always helpful. Are you wrapping up your new rabbit hutch today Cap?
