The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Went to the library yesterday and then again today after class. Different libraries cause yesterday I went to Petsmart for more dog food and then went to one near there while I was down there. It's HUGE and it took me a few minutes to find the right section. Today I went to this fairly small, even tiny, one near me. Anyway, I found some good dog training books. 2 ones I wanted and some others I hadn't thought of but also look really good. So I got 4 from the library yesterday and 3 from this library plus a DVD I needed for class and purchased 2 books and a movie from the cheap section.

And also I caved last night and bought some off Amazon lol

I didn't get all of them though but the 4 main/most important/most popular ones I think.

My brother and his girlfriend are going to have a lot of books to read. :lau

I want to read them all too but I have tons of school work so I really shouldn't. I'm pretty behind ha

Anyway, so I was at the library and my parents show up LOL they had called but was inside and couldn't answer and I guess they figured that's where I would be?? So they were going to dinner with my brother and wanted me to go. I guess he asked where I was but idk if that's true. But I was sick when they went last week. His girlfriend was still in the city or on the way back so couldn't go. So it was just us. But it was fun. Today is 25 cent wings and $5 cheese pizza. And the wings are huge.

So anyway, I found out that they are getting the puppy on Saturday. I thought it was next week and I think they did too but it turns out that it's actually sooner. So they are going to pick her up I think in Rhode Island somewhere? I didn't really get where. But I guess they have like convoys that transport them so they stop somewhere else, maybe NYC?, this Rhode Island place, and then somewhere in New Hampshire. I think it's essentially just on the side of the highway lol I think she is coming from Carolina maybe? On the Petfinder page it says the group is from CT but I don't think they have an actual shelter. So people foster then the transport group transports and I guess they just pick them up along the way.

So that's Saturday. Then they have a vet appointment Monday with a vet right near their house. We used to take our old dog and cat there and my dad always took his pets and it is close so I think that's why? But they are expensive, which they didn't know, so we told him to go to our vet. Why they didn't ask to begin with I don't know. So they are going to keep the appointment there but then I think are going to use our vet after. It is further away but he is very reasonable and very good with the animals.

I also found out that she is 12 weeks old, already spayed, and the cost.

First, I think spaying a dog at 12 weeks old is horrible especially a large breed but the shelters don't want people breeding I guess? But sign a contract.. I know fixing early is worse for males and they are more likely to have problems but I still say it is bad. Inhumane even. But whatever.

And he said they paid like $500. The price listed on the website and then I think transport is an extra like $200 or $190 I think I saw on another dog's page.

They are also apparently naming her Libby. Short for Liberty. That is the name of their skis? I think it is a stupid name. But I think it might also be a family name of ours? And she chose it. And I don't think he wants to go against her.

But of all the names lol

Most of those are at least a few years old because I eventually stopped putting them in albums. I have lots of new better ones I could find but eh. I forgot I had most of these, just went through again myself and was awwing at the cuteness and how much more alert and energetic he was back then haha but I also did way more with him.

Anyway, you can see he looks pretty similar to Sable/Libby.

Morning everyone!

@DigMyChicks we had some snow flurries here yesterday...maybe you & I need to have a contest to see who is the last one to have snow this spring

@Teila happy Saturday to you, hope you get a break in the weather soon.

@rjohns39 wanted to congratulate you on the Yum contest again, your dish looked super! Remember the Marsala wine we talked a bit about maybe a week ago? I found a great new recipe for using it, I'll share it over on the home baking thread later today.

@KDOGG331 I think Libby is a cute name for the pup!

That's all I can think of at the moment, need more caffeine!

Good Morning Debby,

Hi Sis, what time is it there??? It's 530 here and you are up, already, I woke up feeling like it was time to get up and it was only 430 :barnie. So, also deep into the first pot of coffee ;).

Those used book stores are dangerous!

Our friends of library old book sale was truly dangerous for me a couple of years ago, caught the Norvirus there - the sickest I have ever been - and almost all of the elderly volunteers there got hospitalized for the same --- have not had the guts to attend another since then :(. And left those bargain books sitting in storage for over a year before I had the guts to look at them again ...I do wash and sanitize my hands often, but decided the source was my glasses :th.

It's another hot day here (not quite as hot as you Teila) but thankfully the extreme humidity has eased. I can get my handwashed washing dry which is good because we have to wait until Wednesday for someone to come and look at our machine! We are supposed to be hit by the remnants of cyclone Gita early next week but they are still unsure which part of NZ is going to bear the brunt of it.

So sorry about your washer, had to do the hand wash and hang outside to dry a couple of days last year - why is it taking repair folks so long to come??? . We have a relatively new Samsung fridge - the ice maker froze up and we could not get the ice bucket to budge to remove it to reset. a couple of weeks ago...a repair fellow was able to come in less than a week and got it defrosted, and swapped all the components out - gave DH a business card and told us to call him directly in the future :)

I went to pick up my newest bunny and go shopping today!View attachment 1266008

:love Bunnys are all so cute and cuddly but this one is quite special, and can drive :). Bet it is a safer driver than those folks around here who text/talk on phones, we have had so many folks hit while walking near or across roads lately.... so sad.

Had to google that one :lau.

It already knows how to drive!

:yuckyuck...I envy your quick wit - so refreshing, laughter is a necessary commodity.

I have a Castor update from my sister:

More improvement today, they are letting me take him home as I can nurse him from home now. Still not out of the woods yet but hopefully getting there.

So glad to hear this, did they give y'all a reason for his illness??

I love the puppy pics - just wondering - is that you holding him in the first link?

I've never used an on line service for photo's.....but did lose some valuable ones in the past with 2 simultaneous computer crashes - just too cheap to pay the storage ...but so nice that you have them to reminisce.

Morning @sunflour do you have today off from work?

Um, you asked the time here...right now it's 3:50am. Wanna ask me if I'm going to be taking a nap later? :)

350 and you've been up awhile, I would definitely schedule a nap....maybe around 6 am?

I'm actually off til Monday .

- wish me luck, gonna remove the "juvenile" coop today - and force the Wellies to move to the "big" coop. They have long outgrown the small one - and we have to clean poop daily there. :sick. The small roost is really too short for them to have real comfort. We had planned to wait til all were laying and they are now they are .:bun...and the following 10 days have much warmer nights/days although slight chances of rain....The only problem is Grumps = Lillie....so will have a grump jail ready and confine her if she gets too aggressive :D.

Awesome, a whole weekend off! Glad for you :thumbsup

Sounds like you're having some pretty spring-like weather...good time to do the coop work. Hope Grumps appreciates your efforts!
