The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Slightly random now but the main problem I see with the IncuView versus the HovaBator Genesis is that the IncuView doesn't appear to come with quail rails? Which if I am going to be hatching a lot of quail might be an issue... unless maybe the included turner is all in one or other rails would fit? I'd have to ask. But it does have a lot of other nice features and I think I might prefer plastic... so idk. Maybe I will end up hatching lots of chickens instead and fueling my chicken addiction. :lau
I've been looking into the IncuView. The eggs are laid flat in it, so as far as rails go, it'd be different too. I have read that you can incubate different sized eggs without having to change out parts.

Good Morning Friends :hugs

DMC Sorry to hear about the roaster mess, very annoying!

@Blooie Happy Anniversary! I hope everything is going OK! We miss you :hugs

Michelle Happy Anniversary to you too! :clap

I know that I wanted rain but it can stop now :p

That tropical low I mentioned yesterday is still hanging around and we received 75mm [3 inches] of rain overnight.

On the good side, predicted maximum for today is only 82.5F and the rainwater tank is full.

On the bad side, flooding down south :(

Off to do my greets and then the Angel Food Cake Challenge commences :fl Either way, I will share pictures.
You have to be careful what you wish for, you may get it!

:lau

We are OK here, just very soggy. Those pics are from Townsville which you might remember me mentioning. It is about 1.5 hours south of us and our closest major city.

We do have the risk of getting cut off from 'town' which is 15-20 mins away but with FIL's hoarding and doomsday prepping, we should be right :p
Ooh, i love prepping! Hubby, not so much.

The Coturnix have different strains that were developed, like for example the Texas A&M are mostly white i think and developed as meat birds. Each variety has different qualities. It really won't make a huge difference on a small scale flock which ones you choose. Get some you like the looks of. Pharaoh is just another name for coturnix.
The eggs will fit in the incubator but not the turners unless you get quail rails. I just am getting the flats of paper product to put my eggs in, as i do not have a turner.

Thanks for the info! What do you think of the jumbo brown ones?

I've been looking into the IncuView. The eggs are laid flat in it, so as far as rails go, it'd be different too. I have read that you can incubate different sized eggs without having to change out parts.

Yeah, that's what I was just reading too. Supposedly the eggs are laid on their sides as opposed to the little cups so you can hatch anything as is which I think is actually nice so you dont have to buy a million separate turning trays!

So now I guess the only real downside is that the IncuView only holds like 27 chicken eggs and 49 quail as opposed to like 42 chicken and 120 quail like most. I mean, I don't NEED that many chicks so it might be good it would limit me but considering it is slightly more expensive than others, I wish it were more comparable in that regard.

BUT.

I really think I would much prefer plastic. It is just so easy to clean. I got a heated plastic water bowl a few months ago for the chickens and all you have to do is just dump out old water, wipe it out with a paper towel, and refill. Soooo easy.

Chicago Mayor had the runways torn up with bull dozers, claiming he was preventing terrorist strikes. Baloney!!

Wow that sucks :/

sorry corrected spelling Mayor Daly Can't remember if it was the father or the son, between them I think they were mayors forever.

They were... but it must of been jr as I don't remember it. I left the Chicago land area in 1978 and haven't followed it much since.

Good Morning.

And my early morning phone call has me pretty shaken up. Abnormal mammogram.

Hope this turns out to be nothing. The worst part is worrying and not knowing, and the waiting to find out the final result :hugs .

:love so cute.

I've been thinking of Blooie this morning. There's a note on my desk calendar that she & Ken are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary (Feb. 29th is the actual date).

Wherever she is/whatever she is doing today, I hope she's well and happy. So just in case, @Blooie best wishes on your anniversary and I wish you both many more!

I think of her often and hope Blooie is having fun. Happy Anniversary Blooie.

Happy Anniversary Michelle.

@Teila - hope the angel food cake turns out well

My dad makes me lock the cat in the basement every night because otherwise she comes up and jumps on him and sticks her butt in his face at like 4 in the morning! Lol

In cat language that is a affection....at least my Buddy says so :D

Happy Anniversary! Our 40th is coming up.

Wishing you a happy 40th anniversary in case I forget :ya.

May 21st.

I think mine is May 8th :)...but we don't celebrate it. My cat was born sometime in May so we use our anniversary to celebrate Buddy's Birthday :lau
