I am looking forward to the photos of N F C Debby's holiday. How are the quail eggs doing Capricorn Deb? I keep having to turn my incubator down at the moment because of our hot weather. And it's frustrating me so much that I can't see what's going on in my current Button eggs that are incubating. Two have pipped but the others will hopefully hatch later (because I'm a terrible person and kept adding them to the incubator as she laid them). I tried to check on the two that have pipped (before they pipped) but I couldn't see into the air cells even. I didn't think they were still alive, but they are.

I've also got a strange one that's almost grown. It's a boy without a white bib/mask. In New Zealand we don't have the blue face mutation that means they are lacking a bib/mask. It looked like a cinnamon chick too so I'm not sure what's going on, but it has a red tail and blue patches coming in on it's sides (though currently not down the middle of its tummy like the other cinnamon boys who also have red tummies). Only boys get blue and red feathers in the Button world.

View attachment 1285129 Um, I dunno where Cowley, UT is, but go for it! Ken ran over to Kenny’s to drop off a letter that was put into our P.O. Box by mistake, and while he was out he stopped at the Merc and got our weekly newspaper. Coincidentally this was on the front page....the rest of it continued on another page but it’s is all you need to see how fast and hard krap is delt with here.. I had the incident date wrong...it was a couple of weeks ago but as for the rest, it speaks loud and clear.

Hopefully that'll be a good shock to any other young one thinking of doing something similar. Teens really do need a fright sometimes to get the message through that they are not invincible, their actions have consequences (and can really hurt people), and they do need to toe the line!

It’s probably also why (or because?) kids here are more involved in community service projects, mentoring elementary school kids to give extra help with math, science, and reading, opening car doors and carrying packages out of the post office to older peoples’ cars, community drama productions, and we have very little vandalism and “bad” behaviors. It ain’t perfect here, but it comes mighty doggone close! Teehee

Idk, too soon to candle. But the cat made me drop the top of the incubator on the incubator by pushing against my hand. Didn't see damage, but rotten luck.
I may buy some juvenile quail or more eggs. My new bator is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
I love all your button quail, mine were boring dark brown.

We're they the wild type ones? My daughter loves the males in that colour. I love the variety I have and I'd love a pair in every colour. Maybe one day.

Don't you love it when cats try to be helpful?! Hopefully your incubator is tough enough to take a knock. Hope your eggs aren't too spotty so you can get a good view inside too. I had one that had a huge, dark spot right on the air cell end so I couldn't see a thing. Very inconvenient.

Lucky you getting a new incubator. What's going in it? Lucky you - you'll have a proper Easter with baby bunnies and cute little chicks hatching everywhere.

OK, OK, Wyoming. I don't know why I always get that wrong. Maybe because, apparently, a goodly portion of Cowley is Mormon and I associate them with UT. At least WY and UT are close on both the keyboard and the map ;)

Good on your schools and law officials for smacking those boys right into the "system". HOPEFULLY they are basically good kids that need the stupid in them "fixed" and this will do it.

Perfect!

I hope the rest of the Country wakes up about stuff like this
