Sadly it sounds like this one will not be taken seriously either. The Police said they are working with the school district to come up with suitable discipline...What a joke! The kid should be expelled and sent to a continuation school along with some type of legal action.

This is not much of a deterrent to future behavior by this Guy or others

I bet they, the kids, would think differently if they were on the wrong side of a school shooting. Scare the sh1t out of them, if they aren't dead. Same with the school administrators.

Our governor did a 180° on his position on gun control after the incident 2 weeks ago. As he said, you don't think it will happen "here" until it does. And if the someone (not even in this state) the perp told he was thinking about shooting up a school hadn't taken it seriously or those she had told hadn't taken it seriously, there would be dead people in Fair Haven. Scared the sh1t out of Governor Scott. Not surprisingly, school security came up during the school portion of Town Meeting on Saturday.

I think so too!

We had a similar situation last week in a Lovell. The kids who spotted the threat on social media immediately notified the school resource officer, who notified the police, who investigated, hauled the two juvenile offenders straight into juvenile detention and they’ll stay there.

I hope the Prosecutor here in the County will weight in on this. There needs to be real punishment

And idk, it's a fine line because the parents could probably sue and go oh my precious little baby didn't do anything wrong (or maybe they don't care which could be part of the problem to begin with) and/or being sent away or isolated or whatever might just enhance whatever negative feelings or ideas he has now but at the same time, he definitely needs something. Maybe suspended and required therapy? Or time in a mental institution ha that might not help either.

I do wonder though if these kids actually feel that way, like would they actually do something, or are they just some punk kids who think it's funny and/or have no discipline or whatever? Either way they need some help. Required therapy or maybe even boot camp or something ha

They could be doing it for attention too, sadly. Finding out what their family situation is like might be important too.

Sorry for rambling on like that and/or probably sounding like I'm defending him, I just always find this stuff interesting and/or like finding the reasons behind stuff, I guess the psychology major is showing haha (technically I'm in behavioral science but still).

Something needs to be done for sure to keep him and others from pulling stuff like this.

As I said, just a prediction at the moment and nothing official from the BOM. We have our cyclone plan in place and the chickens will be camping out in the bathroom in the crates we already have for such an occasion. Not sure I can get all my beloved plants in to the bathroom also; I know for a fact Audrey and the tree fern will not fit

Here this krap is not messed with! First of all, everyone knows everyone else. So the embarrassment of doing something stupid, getting caught, and facing people come into play. Second, we know that our kids are treasures. So when they mess up, not only do they have to face the legal consequences but they have to face their peers afterwards, and their peers will express their unhappiness quite clearly.

Several years ago a few smart butts from our local school decided to ride around and egg cars. Yeah, not here, folks.....the kids were caught, they were detained, they went to court and were fined - which they and not their parents had to pay. How’d they get caught? The other kids in school didn’t think it was amusing as the eggers did.

Wow good thing the girl turned him in!

But it's scary how seriously messed up that kid is!

And also it's sad how in this case treatment clearly didn't work!

Everyone always says mental health is the answer, better access to treatment and resources, and it seems to me like there's usually only 2 sides or options according to most people, treatment or gun control, but clearly treatment didn't work on this kid.

And might not work on others. And often, they know it's wrong and might purposely hide it from the therapist so they might seem "fine."

Now I'm not saying to just forget mental health or anything or that it's not important, because it is and I think it is a huge part of it, but this is just proof that it doesn't always work, sadly.
