The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Busy day for me today. We are dropping a cockatiel off to someone (they aren't far away). He's going to keep a female cockatiel company so I think that's the best kind of home for him as he's kind of been bottom of the heap in a cage full of boys. I thought he was a girl for awhile because he was so quiet.

Then we have my niece's birthday party to go to, and the kids are staying at my Mums for the night (so they are excited on both counts and took forever to go to sleep last night) so hubby and I are going to go to the movies. The last movie we saw was Beauty and the Beast with the kids (and DS was a pain but it was his first time at the movies) and before that I could not tell you the last movie we went to see! It was probably before our son was born (and he's just turned 7)!

And I will have most of Sunday to myself until DH picks up the kids after work and brings them home. So I'm looking forward to that. :celebrate

Sounds like a great weekend!

Have fun

Good morning everyone
Neighbour loaned me an incubator... I thought it was going to be one of those itty bitty table top ones... Nope. A 41 egg hova bator! Woo hoo!

Cap - massive hugs. I hope that the biopsy happens soon and that the results are benign. I'll be thinking of you.

Blooie - I'm assuming Kendra is a typical kid and she's forgotten all about it already.

Bob - sorry you had a rough day. Hopefully we have helped relieve some of the stress for you.

Teila - holy moly! That's a lot of water! Once it starts to subside how long will it take for everything to dry out?

K - goldens are an excellent choice

That's awesome it's a big incubator! What are you hatching?

And thanks! Last month I was like obsessively looking at breeders. This month I've been thinking about raising a guide dog ever since I follow a blind YouTuber on YouTube that just got a new one. So now I just don't know. :lau

Of course, the guide dogs are usually Labs I think but they do have Goldens too and sometimes German Shepherds or Standard Poodles depending on the group. But of course Labs and Goldens are most common. I think the Labs are used because the shorter coat is probably easier to put a harness onto. It wouldn't get tangled in the fur or cause the fur underneath to be matted, etc. And not need to be brushed out or groomed as often which might be hard or a pain for a blind person?

But yeah.

I'm debating between buying a puppy or raising one. But either way, it will be a while.

Cap, I missed your post last night! Okay, deep breath. Biopsies are done just as much to prove something isn't anything to worry about as the other way around. So we all need to focus on the "ruling out" reason for doing them. Nobody's said anything about "confirming", but if and when that happens we'll deal with it the way we have everything else - with a positive outlook, lots of love and prayers, and a good dose of humor!! :hugs

Well said as always Blooie.

Sounds fun Jae!

We have a vet appointment at 3:30. Last appointment of the day I think which is good because he's not that great with other dogs sometimes, especially when he's sick.

My dad made the appointment but I'm going with him because I can handle Gator and also, most importantly, I want to hear what the vet says for myself and make sure my dad asks about everything and/or does the tests or treatments if needed.

So yeah.

It's starting to snow here. It snowed yesterday too but we only got a few inches I think and now it's mostly all melted. And the day before that it was all rain
It is clear and too warm for a coat outside today here.

Lucky! It was nice earlier but now is snowing. And yesterday was actually nice too because it had snowed overnight so when I got up it had stopped and all meltef by later in the day and was somewhat sunny.

And also last night when I went to the store I think I saw a front mpvimg moving in. It was awesome. One spot was kind of sunny then there were all these really cool big huge clouds all around in front of me

I also just fed the chickens and was going to go to the store because they are out of food but I don't think I'll have time now. I still have to shower before we go so by the time I do that, get to the store, buy what I need, come back, etc. I won't have enough time cause I usually spend at least an hour or two when out haha

But oh well, I can get it after we go to the vet or tomorrow. I had enough food to fill the bowls

It is nice! But I am already dreading the heat of Summer...It will be too hot most likely--Last year we had more than 20 days over 100 here

I also need to find something to put on the ground because their pen is disgustingly muddy with all this snow, rain, storms we've had and it hasn't had a chance to dry out because it hasn't been sunny. I know that can't be healthy. But idk what to put in there.
Straw or sand is good for pens in winter
