The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

NZ is getting hit with a good storm at the moment. The temperature is supposed to take a dive tonight. There's snow down country and Taranaki had tornadoes! We've got a lot of rumbling thunder at the moment and we've had a bit of rain but it's mostly the wind which is supposed to reach gale force by tonight. I just hope the power doesn't go out (due to someone driving into a lamppost - that's the usual cause) as I have the incubator going and one set of chicks that really need the heat. We do have a fire so I can get that going if worst comes to the worst, and it will definitely be going on tonight. Winter is coming!

Good grief....stay off for a couple of days and come back to a thread that looks like “War and Peace”! How’s a girl supposed to catch up when you all move like the wind? (No pun intended, Debby - we’ve been getting it here too!)

Check out this beauty who I snapped a picture of in my lunch hour today. As you can see (s)he has a damaged wing but was still managing to get around OK and hopefully will be able to avoid all the local birds, which is probably how (s)he got injured in the first place It is actually bigger than the Sunbird!

Google advises that it is a Cairns Birdwing butterfly which is the largest of all Australian butterflies. The female's wingspan can measure 18cm [7 inches] and their favourite habitat is the rain forest which makes me feel good that he or she was hanging around in my garden; tropical was and still is my goal

What's funny is it's been kind of windy here lately and I've been sort of cold and the wind has been annoying me but the funny part is I've been thinking of you guys and going like THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS ALL THE TIME!?!?!

Especially funny cause what is "windy" and "cold" and "annoying" to me is probably just a breeze.
