The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I made blueberry cheesecake squares, chocolate caramel cake with whipped cream & chocolate drizzle and no-bake strawberry & cream pies (those didn't set up in time for the luncheon so still have). I didn't get any photos but can tell you the cheesecake squares & cake are all gone

DH got a piece of cake and loved it. I liked the blueberry cheesecake squares the best. Will try to remember to post the recipes on the baking thread when I have more time.
They all sound good!

It would seem dove chicks don't fluff up. This was Winter yesterday.

Today the eyes were just starting to open (I should've used the flash). I haven't seen baby much at all today but there's been a very chilly breeze. We have a cold night ahead of us then it will warm up again (seeing as more rain is on the way).

Great minds follow in the same paths....after my taco this morning, I had a slice of blueberry cheesecake.

No, JaeG they don't fluff up for awhile. Look like wet rats, :lau Pigeons look the same way!

Also, obviously know you're joking but is it even possible to allow remote access to a regular civilian/household computer? Do you have install something?
All you need is proxy software, which comes already installed on your computer.

Yes but you would be calling them not the other way around. I don't know but presume you do have to install remote control software. We had to with the server machines at work.

NEVER EVER EVER give your CC ore debit card to someone who calls you. Did I mention NEVER EVER??

Your bank might call and tell you they suspect fraudulent activity on your card but they will tell you the last 4 digits of the card and won't ask for any other info about the number, expiration date, security code, etc. They will tell you what the last few charges were and you can verify that they are or are not legit.

A friend of DD1's was over the other night, somehow the discussion got to unsolicited phone calls. MAYBE not a scam but at the very least aggressive marketing. Guy tells her Mom that her warranty on the car was ending and was wanting to sell her an extended warranty. This can be legitimate, such things are sold. I think he even knew she had a Subaru. She asked what model and year. OOPS, he didn't know. She asked how does he know if her warranty is expiring if he doesn't even know the model and year. He got kinda flustered then, end of phone call.

What's to fluff?? They look like they are growing dry straw.

I would have eaten the entire chocolate caramel cake with whipped cream & chocolate drizzle - :drool all by myself and then had the blueberry cheesecake squares & coke as a chaser. I can dream can't I.
No you wouldn't, you would be polite and let the other ladies have 1 helping each, then eat the rest. :D

I don't get many of those calls anymore, since I used the FBI to get back at one!

Kelsey, there's also a "drive by virus" that does the same thing. You're poking along, on your computer, when all of a sudden on your screen comes a big bold message that says Microsoft has detected a serious virus on your computer and gives you a phone number to call. You call it, and this official sounding-dude answers with "Microsoft Tech Support". You tell him you got that message, and he's all business as he tells you how Microsoft can "fix" it. You authorize your credit card number and remote access, and he spends the next 2+ hours (NOT an exaggeration) tying up your computer while he dinks around in there, happily taking off all of your contacts, your passwords, your personal and financial information, and anything else he thinks he can sell or use. Yep, it happened exactly like that to my brother-in-law Russ. He called to talk to Ken while "Microsoft" was busy "fixing" his computer. Ken had him reach up, use the dreaded off button to shut every thing off, and Russ spent weeks getting his computer totally cleaned out, reconstructing passwords, changing all of his financial accounts, and whatever else had to be re-done. What he couldn't do much about was trying to get his Social Security information changed, since he also files his taxes on-line. What a mess!! The man at Russ's computer shop called it a "drive by frooting" and the name stuck.

I got one too, even before Russ got his, and I just reached up, shut down my computer, and disconnected the router from all of our other computers. Ken stores information on over a thousand guys on his for his job as Grand Recorder, Grand Secretary - information on every York Rite member in the state. Yeah, don't need that compromised. Took our computers in, had Mark go over them, and he said everything was fine - I had prevented disaster by not responding in any way. So if it pops up on your screen, it is NOT Microsoft, it is NOT in your best interests, and it CAN destroy you!

Jae, Winter is one lucky little bird to hatch out where you are there to assist if you needed to. I'd say he's adorable, but...well....um...not yet! He will be, of course, but as of now he is kinda all bill and skin. It's going to be fun watching him grow and change.

Michelle, this whole thing has to be frustrating you beyond belief sometimes! I admire you for continuing to just march forward and I think in the end this will all come out in your favor.

Debby, chocolate? Seriously? What if I'd shown in up in my red hat? I'd have had to take all the blueberry cheesecake squares and leave the other ladies the chocolate. Oh, wait, never mind...I'd have been at the bar having Frankenfoot make me a frozen margarita.

Congrats on the new babies, rjohns...

I know I missed some in there.....but know that I'm always reading if not responding - so BE careful what you write! :lau

The new remote software works through a web browser. You do have to accept though.
