The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Well this has been an interesting day.....kids made that run to the ER and this time they were able to put it back in and the girls are finally at camp.

In the meantime Ken and I made a run to Cody for supplies. Fee happily got in her crate and we left. Came home and as we reached the door, Ken said, "This doesn't smell good....." Yeah. Dog poop. The upset-tummy-sorry-I-tried-to-wait kind. All over her, the carpet around her crate, the TV stand and smooshed all into her crate, crate mattress and blankies. No way to put her out without trotting her through the living room to the door. (Um, did I mention her big feet were full of it?) The deck, the deck mat, the steps and the sidewalk ended up with it tracked all over. No salvaging the mattress or the blankies.....bagged and in the outside trash for collection tomorrow. Collapsed the crate and Ken hauled it out and cleaned it while I tackled the chunks, ground in stuff, and splatters on the floors.

Thank goodness for a big carpet shampooer.....oh, wait....no carpet shampoo. No dog shampoo either. So Ken kept cleaning while I ran to the store. Set up the shampooer and guess what - it ain't working. While he worked on that, I girded my loins and prepared Fiona for a shower - outside. That actually went better than I anticipated but she looks like a giant, unhappy hedgehog. Oh, well, she ate a little bit anyway. Doesn't everything look better after a snack and a shower?

Fee is sleeping outside on the deck tonight until we know her upset tummy is gone. I thought I knew what he11 was....I was wrong. In reality it's a giant wolfhound with diarrhea in a wire crate in the living room for 3.5 hours. <sigh> I love my life I love my life I love my life.........
Uffda!
That's another sad story. The day after my fall, I let her out, like I do everyday to run around get her exercise. While feeding my birds, I turned around and couldn't find her. She usually is right by my side. I looked and called all over for her but to no avail.
She was starting to eat browse, weeds, etc...so I hope she makes it....I've looked and called several times a day since but still no Layla...I just wanted to cry and did...I hate the thought that I'm responsible for her disappearance....just so sad. :(
:hugs

Good morning all. We made a quick trip to Sam’s club yesterday.. more time on the road then in the store. We needed meat so I get to separate and freeze it all this morning. I do not like shopping at our local grocery store as you open the doors and it smells rotten.:sickIt was so nice last night I was able to open my windows. The humidity comes back tomorrow night but for now I’m going to enjoy my fresh air.:wee

Good morning :frow

Sean, sorry about Layla taking off. I know you'll miss her but agree with the others...she must have felt like it was time. :hugs

Blooie, wth? You had some weekend! First Kendra and then Fiona. It's time for a good day without mishaps!

Ron, I think, asked about the tanks used for the planters? DH said he got the ones TSC used for their chick & duckling sales so they were discounted, not sure how much the new ones would be.

Speaking of the planters, I got all 6 of them fixed up yesterday and helped DH get little green evergreen trees planted on both sides of the walkways for the 3 houses. Here are a couple of pictures:

There's still a huge pile of top soil to be spread around the fronts of the 3 houses and on Wednesday the sod will get here. Sure will be nice to see some green!

That looks AWESOME Debby!! It's those little touches that can soften things and make the house look so welcoming! I didn't even know you were planning to sod - you probably mentioned it, but I must have missed it. A tree break will be most welcome sitting in the open as you are there. It'll probably take a day or two to for them to get big enough to serve as an effective wind break, but any time now......

Fee is fine. I think she just ate something outside....like a tree or a cement truck or something. Was gonna keep her out all night, but at some point during the night one of us got up and let her in. I don't remember doing it and Ken doesn't remember doing it either. We wanted the carpet to dry overnight and be vacuumed first. But I got up this morning, went out to check on her, and no Fiona. Anywhere. Looked everyplace I could think of, even in the chicken run. I panicked and went in and woke Ken. He looked everywhere. No sign, no whimper, no nothing! So he came back in to get his clothes on and jump in the car to search (he had his jammie bottoms and t-shirt on when he went outside) and he sat in the recliner to put his socks on. The recliner pushed back. Looked behind it and there she was. Don't even KNOW how she got inside, let alone behind there in that small space. But there she was, tucked back in that tiny corner! Just smiling at us and wagging her tail. I've never wished for a barking dog in my life, but this morning I wished she'd have barked. Nope. Had her since May and have yet to hear one. This dog is gonna be the end of me, I swear!

Sean, I'm sorry that you feel so bad about Layla. She was ready to move on and most likely would have done so whether you were laid up or not. :hugs

Fee must be some kind of ghost dog B! She has already figured out how to disappear from a kennel and back into the house :lau Kind of nice she's a quiet dog and not a non-stop barker.

As for the wind break, yesterday the plant manager stopped by to admire our handiwork and asked if the little trees would eventually get big enough to do that...DH's response, "Not in our lifetime"
