The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Over in the hatching forum. I do not know where it came from as a normal part of incubation. It is way down on the list of things to do at the end of incubation.
I have never heard of that, either! Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing that, poking a "safety hole" in a viable egg? Doesn't sound very safe to me. Sound's like someone with not much experince in hatching did it....it worked, others read about it, so now that's the thing to do. < sigh>

Sort of, Kelsey. Theoretically she could still bloat, but she won’t have nearly as much risk from the gastric torsion that often comes with bloat. I’d rather spent a couple of hundred now and save thousands later if she did bloat, and not have her go through all that and possibly lose her anyway.

That makes sense! Is that common practice to do the tummy tuck on giant breeds or did you have to request it?

Yep!

I have seen this happen before. On the fourums

Do you have them in a pond?

No I have them in a tank right now but it's too small so it needs to be upgraded soon. I was planning on building a pond and was really excited/serious about it for a while but now I kinda lost interest/motivation. Idk, could just be the depression or the heat, but building a pond is also just really expensive and I've realized a lot of maintenance. Even a big tank is expensive cause I'd have to buy it and bigger filters cost more. Idk. It's just not really fun for me anymore. Like all the water changes and testing and stuff required. It's weird cause I like love doing other animal chores but the work required for fish I'm not really into. Maybe it's because other animals give more back? Idk. I am attached to them though, which I know sounds weird, so it might be somewhat hard to rehome them, I do enjoy watching them and they always swim over to greet me and splash their tails whenever I come in the room, so I do love that but the rest of it just isn't really fun for me anymore. I'd rather rehome them and focus on my other animals and maybe possibly eventually add a second dog or even a rabbit.

It all makes sense!

I am looking forward to summer being over here. It is too hot!

Glad it does and doesn't sound totally crazy lol I really think someone with a pond might be a good idea.

And yeah, it's hot here too. Hasn't been terrible, we've had a lot of nice days, but we've had a lot of really humid days too which is way worse
