The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Tammy’s house was built in 1917. It has been so well maintained, and any upgrades or repairs have maintained the original look and flavor of this old home beautifully. There are several boxes of the original siding, stored carefully and kept covered, in the garage.

When the contractor who will be fixing the windows gave his estimate, he was very concerned about one of them. It’s a double set of windows, but looked like one big window, and believe it or not it was in the closet of the master bedroom. He said he can’t match them unless he orders custom windows and frames, and that will add weeks to the repairs waiting for them, not to mention increase the cost significantly. Tam planned to close that off anyway....she hated the idea of two windows in there and with the damaged one being on the North side of the house it was even less appealing. So she and the contractor talked it over, they went out so he could check the stored siding, and he is going to wall that completely in, using that siding. The closet and the little sunroom were added on as one large addition, with half of it walk-in closet and the other half the sunroom. He’ll also replace the flooring in there....glass in that closet has been driven deep down into the padding and no amount of cleaning will get it all out. It’s a small room, so even with adding that still doesn’t come up to the cost of replacing those windows. Tam told him that she loves the look of that little old house, and Scott patted her shoulder and said, “You still will.” I’m glad. That little house is such a gem.

Good morning everyone!

Michelle, sorry you weren't able to get a couple of pieces of your old house. Some people just make no sense.

Blooie, no closing date yet? Hope that process gets over & done with so everyone is in their own space soon.

Okay, the heck with everything - Grand Lodge, traveling, Tam and Evan living here.....the heck with everything!!! Something happened here today that, to me, is more monumental than any of it!

I’ve got the girls today. Katie has been wanting to learn to cath Kendra. Jenny has been very hesitant about Katie learning to do it so I made an executive decision and let her try. She NAILED it, first time, and afterwards, all on her own, Kendra leaned in and gave Katie a kiss. Then she said “All done cath. Thanks.” As far as I’m concerned that was 2 full sentences as well as a huge feather in Katie’s cap!!! :celebrate
