The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

okay.... :thI've really been trying to refrain from joining this conversation but I do have a funny story. Set the stage: DS was 14 and raging with hormones... And also just exposed to chicken pox. We went to Cypress on vacation where clothes are pretty much optional in all areas. Even though we arrived early in the morning, it was a four hour drive to the hotel. So we arrived around lunchtime. The patio leading to the hotel lobby was the "sunning area" and though mostly female it was a mix of male and female "old folks." DS had enough discretion to wait until we were out of ear shot to express to me how "GROSS:sick" that was... Fast forward a bit... After lunch, we waited the obligatory hour, got our swim and snorkeling gear and went out to enjoy the beautiful clear water and all the colorful fish. As we came up for refreshments, it was about time for school to let out and the school bus stopped in front of the hotel. I'm guessing there were about 40 students all came running to the beach. They dropped their school bags, clothes and headed for the water. I have to say I've never seen DS move so fast to get back in the water. He decided that it wasn't that gross after all.... And then the pox showed so he spent the next 14 days hidden in the room. It kind of is a PITA to be traveling internationally with a sick, communicable kid. We just extended our stay until he was clear and hoped the maids wouldn't turn us in. His room service bill reminded me of home alone....:barnie:mad:

Ok, Ron and Sharron.... he actually bought the girl that he picked a drink at the bar that night... Kiddie drinks of course... She was first to notice the pox and unfortunately she was right.

ETA: I heard from her parents that she got it too.
How sweet and tragic!

My Oldest two Daughters had chicken pox. The Vaccine was out when my Youngest was born so she did not get them.

i never had chicken pox. thought i would go thru all of the child diseases with our son but nope, never did, lucky i guess
It is possible that you had chicken pox and did not show symptoms. Still get the vaccine for Shingles. There is a new one out that is recommended for 50 and up
