The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Yeah except this one is being done by the same guys that took a light year to build the goat house and it STILL isn't finished!

In the Parks traffic laws are enforced with a federal ticket - none of this state and/or local stuff.
Maybe they need a law that says slow moving traffic must pull over every 15 minutes if anyone is behind them or face a $250 fine. And enforce it.

I do want to say that it might have seemed less costly to go on a road trip way back when but remember that wages were lower too. Cost is relative and it was pricey then too.
I dunno, I remember going to the national parks, going to a campground, picking out a tent site and then every day going to a box near the entrance and I think it was just a few dollars a day. Haven't been to one since I was a kid though. I think now you need reservations a year in advance and it is all campers and trailers running their generators. No fun.

Just how did we do it ? I think folks just did without or needed less back then. Many have lost the reality of what is necessary.
Yep. Gotta have that $600 smart phone with the $100+ monthly charge, cable with hundreds of channels you don't want to watch, etc. Of course internet access is a must have ;)

Yea, I can remember supporting my wife and kids on 80 bucks a week back in the day. Didn't ever seem to be doing without.

Every 2 weeks a paycheck arrived. Bills were paid, food purchased, and if enough was left over a trip to the drive in movie with popcorn and soda for the Princess and kids and a six pack of Carling Black Label for me - Nirvana.

My dad had a good job but we were not a wealthy family by any means. When we went places on dad's 2 week vacation time, we camped all the way, sometimes 8 of us (my 3 cousins always went with us) crammed into a tent and once in a blue moon, he would rent a trailer for the "ladies" and the guys got the tent to themselves. We didn't eat out. Dad would get up early, start a fire and cook eggs & toast (I was his early-rising helper). For lunch & dinner, we'd find a place to pull over and Mom made sandwiches. Or we fished and had fresh fish for dinner. We never ate in restaurants or stayed in motels. No tv, no phones, no a/c. And we had the best of times ever! Lots of good memories were made during those trips!

Nailed it Sour! We were too busy having fun & making memories to feel like we were missing out of anything.

We always close the porch door because we hate having bears in the house.

I don't like having bears in the house either...oh wait...DH has been super grouchy lately (golf course issues) so I guess I'm living with a bear.

It appears as though I'm a little late to say "good morning" :caf so I guess "Happy Lunch!" is the appropriate response.:ya

Happy Lunch to you too Egg :gig
