We need a super heavy rain or hard snow right now. The area between Pinedale (where Ken grew up) and Jackson is an inferno. The fire is so intense that any light rain evaporates above it before it can reach the ground. That fire has 800+ personnel working on it, with no signs of containment. The major highway between Pinedale and Jackson is closed. This is the fire nearest to Daniel/Bondurant. There’s another big one just south of Jackson near Afton that is also not contained. Then there’s the Encampment fire near that town and the big fire that crossed the Wyoming/Colorado state line not far from Saratoga and another one on the Utah/Wyoming border south of Evanston. If you’re keeping track, that shows central Wyoming almost surrounded by fires. It’s clear here, not too much smoke in the air, and the Big Horns got a good dusting of snow over the past few days. We don’t have any fires in our area, but the snow was welcomed nonetheless.
So while you’re praying and sending good vibes, put in a word for the firefighters, first responders, and support personnel as well, and those running the many evacuation shelters. They sure need it right now. I gotta say I’d feel better if Ken wasn’t in Saratoga/Rawlins right now.
