No they work, just when I first wake up, they have worn off. I just took a 50mg Tramadol, I'll be good in 20 minutes.

Nope, only the stereotypic response, you have low bone density. I think the real reason is the previous surgery weaken the bone, because it broke at the site that the screws where inserted.
