Well then, after it is fixed up (however much is necessary) you will have TWO houses but only need 1 to live in. Why not rent it out and make some money? I don't know what property taxes are like there but here they are a big expense. Plus you have the expense of utilities. I could see not wanting to rent it out if this was your dream retirement home but we all know it isn't because you told us so

Renting it out after we've fixed it up is a possibility but not my favorite thing to do. We'll see what the housing market is like next spring or so.

Well, you saved a bit of money anyway.

Haven't turned the furnaces on yet but I am running the wood stove this morning. It was 66° inside and won't go much past 40° outside all day. Might have to turn on the furnace in the north end of the house, wood stove is in the far south end of the south building, heat doesn't get to the north building much other than going up the stairs in the south building and and back down the stairs in the north building.

High tomorrow low 50's, and by Thursday not even 40's. Yep, good thing I put new filters in the furnaces.

We're looking at possibly more snow tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be brutal with highs in the low 20's and an overnight low of 11*.
