We are under a red flag fire danger alert here. The worst fires happen in october in California

so are we.... we got rain but that wont stop the fire potential....

They're originally from Africa right? So maybe better suited to warmer areas or raising keets inside?

Normally they raise the keets in arid climate... and the whole flock assists... even the junior males that dont have a mate will warm the keets while she goes foraging.

Maybe I'll have to find a metal roof one

Our roof is so tall with the loft and vaulted ceiling that the guineas would have to fly up like 20 feet. Plus we did not encourage them to come near the house. They are fed in the hoop coop only.

I had a friend with a huge flock of guineas in TN. Her porch was poo covered, because she fed them in front of the house.
