The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

One of the best pieces of fish I've ever had was a swordfish steak. When my brother lived in the Keys, he went fishing with my youngest son and that's what they brought back. Bro cut it into steaks, wrapped it in banana leaves and grilled it.

Makes my mouth water just thinking about that. That was one of the best parts about living down there...all that super fresh seafood!
I agree Debby, swordfish is my favorite but it has to have every bit of the red meat cut out of it or it will taste fishy.

I don't think so, had my face completely smashed in an accident, my face took the whole brunt of the impact with the steering column. All the bones in my face were the size of oat meal and split open from my right eyebrow to my chin, right down the middle of my face. Took 7 surgeons 14 hrs to reconstruct my face. They put me in a drug induced coma for 22 days due to swelling of my brain. Wasn't expected to live through the night. Wasn't a very pleasant experience after they brought me out of the coma. Was still swelled up and major bruising for weeks after.... but the pain wasn't ever not tolerable.
I could tolerate the pain, but if i take a pill i am more likely to stay inside and rest. So hopefully i get better sooner.

I've eaten chocolate covered ants, not amused by them, they get caught in between your teeth. Cow tounge, tastes just like roast beef, grasshoppers, snake, frog legs, bobcat back straps, meadow larks, squid, and grubs. . .but prefer not too!
Love cow tongue... the meat from one I had was corned like corned beef.
I would try everything but grubs... Have had squid

I am a sushi eater My favorites are Uni, Yellow tail, Tuna occasionally, Eel, Topeko (flying fish Roe), Pickled Mackrel. Not into many rolls but one I like is a spider roll which is Fried Blue Crab whole in a roll.

The oddest one I ever had was asking the sushi chef if he had Topeko "Oh yes I have" "I eat for Lunch" So he called out to the kitchen something in Tai... Oops Tie Chef makes good Sushi but doesn't speak English or Japanese too well.

we had an Andrew Zimmern moment Out came breaded and fried whole fish.... about the size of a french fry... Them eyes were staring at us through the breadding.... Ok I asked for it... I dipped the fish in the ponzu sauce and bit the head off... Crunch... But OH so Tasty.... My son and I ate them all.

So Now we order Fish Fries... instead of french fries

Here some of the Taco places sell La Lingua tacos! They are very tasty too

you got your two day feeders built... too bad you didnt mount them on the outside of the coop with the bird access on the inside... Then all you would need to do is fill the feeders from the outside of the coop. Use tubs or trays on the inside for water then you can water from the outside... a Chair for long sessions and a wagon to handle bringing feed over.

The poop and dirt can wait....should wait...

I did make most of the feeders with outside access, but i have to bend over to fill them. I will muddle through.

Nice Story!

Your Dad was adventurous for sure
His mom would kill and process enough chickens to make lunch for the field hands.... They raved so much that when Grandma and grandpa moved to Yuma Arizona she opened up a Restaurant... I think dad was about twelve by then. I suspect her asthma got the best of her there...

He was a very quick study on how to do things.

I had gangrene and was sent from our local hospital/clinic up to St. Vincent’s in Billings. I got checked into the ER and was sitting there waiting when one of the nurses stepped up behind the desk, picked up my paperwork and asked the girl I’d checked in with, “Okay, is this the the lady who was sent up from the Pre-Morgue in Lovell?”

Um, I would suggest that until the swelling goes down, you avoid mirrors. It has to hurt bad enough without seeing what’s hurting...at least that’s how it works for me. I can have a bruise without knowing it, but as soon as I see it it starts to hurt! :lau
I never have liked looking in mirrors since i turned 40.
