The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I am way behind - but I did see the pics of your house @N F C (love those floors).

We've had an offer on our place but it's so low it's insulting. There are tiny houses out here asking what they've offered us for our reasonably big, fully renovated house. We'll make a much higher counter offer and if they don't come up to it we are more than happy to keep waiting. It's not like we've found anywhere yet.

The stress is doing nothing for my waistline though - really wish I was one of those people who couldn't eat when they were stressed out. We are taking next week off open homes wise so I can relax a bit. Mostly I'm worried about Christmas and being able to buy the kids presents. I've got a bit of money from selling a few birds, and I'll have another 6 Button quail females to sell soon (everyone only wants females) so that will help. It'll all work out I'm sure.

@Blooie glad your survived your unplanned overnight stay.
stick to your guns:thumbsup

Who needs a rooster when you have a hyper alert Easter Egger? The girls were happily foraging when all of a sudden Bunny (the red Easter Egger) stood up straight and GROWLED!! Legit never heard a chicken make that noise before!! Then some of the other chickens went deeper under cover and started softly growling too. Then they COMPLETELY froze like a statue for like 5 minutes. Bunny was still frozen 10 minutes later while some of the other girls had started moving and pecking a bit but they were all still mostly frozen and then huddled together. I actually thought maybe Bunny was having like a seizure or something cause she was frozen so long and I didn't see any threat but then my dad called and said a HUGE red tail had just flew out of the bushes in the front and landed in the pine trees back here. So I guess they are SMART! They lost their sister to a hawk last fall so I guess now they are extra vigilant. I felt bad they were still so frozen though but they did the same thing when a hawk attacked them 2 summers ago. No deaths then but a lot of feather loss (almost got one) and they were frozen in the bushes. I found the victim completely frozen next to a huge pine branch in the back and the others were in a bush in front but one actually went deep into the woods and was missing for about 2 hours. So I guess it's normal for them to be worried for a while after? Tried to get them back in the run but they don't wanna go lol bread worked to get them unfrozen but then they decided to make up for lost time :lau

Debby, Tam can help you with you with that blue countertop. She sure changed hers in her old house.

Got through the night. Funny, I start taking the overnight bag everywhere I go, even for day trips, all winter long. But since the weather was supposed to good this Saturday, I left it. Lesson learned. I’m the one who got the date messed up, so it’s all on me this time.

Glad you got through the night ok B! What was that old commercial...something about "don't leave home without it"?

Everyone wants a bargain Jae...just let them know your house isn't one! We've seen your pictures, your house is beautiful!

And I think the people running it told them the wrong day, no?
Possible. Though it seems an odd thing to do on a Friday at 4 PM. Unless everyone who would be attending is retired.

Oh and the window in the middle of the shower but only cause I would be paranoid people could look in it.
As @rjohns39 said, you can get privacy film, or replace the glass with privacy glass. Short term solution if you think there is a privacy problem. Windows in that location get really wet. If I were stuck with something like that I'd be tempted to hang a small piece of shower curtain from it right up to the ceiling and at least a foot beyond the edge on the shower head side. And I would take it out at some point.

Yep, I've been running on empty...had to "fill up"! :lau
Given how poorly you've been feeling, I'm sure you were!

Good chickens!

@JaeG I agree, don't jump on the offer just because they made one. As you said, you have not yet found somewhere else and aren't in any rush to sell cheap.

Very true. Oh well, I think all is sorted out now. I do wonder though if Blooie gets to go home before the next one?

That's a good idea! I didn't think of replacing the glass or putting a privacy film on it.

Yup! Very good and smart. Especially considering I didn't used to think they knew what a hawk was :lau
