The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It's Guy Fawkes here. Our dog never used to worry about fireworks (she generally slept through the noise) but now that she's older she definitely doesn't like them. She's just a bit nervous.

Kelsey, don't restrict yourself too much as that's just setting yourself up for failure. Just try and do small changes to less processed foods for the benefit of your health (and definitely steer clear of almond/rice/soy 'milk' - all unnatural, highly processed products IMHO). Your goal needs to be good health. I recently found this article which is very interesting:

I was going to suggest a certain type of tight coat for dogs like her. Pretty sure it's called a "thunder shirt "I know my sister and niece had to get them for their shelter dogs who freaked at everything. It really calmed them down. It fits tightly.

It's like swaddling a baby - because their arm and leg movements frighten them. They don't know they are parts of their body.

I know the ones you mean but she's thankfully not bad enough (and those things are expensive here). She's just watchful and a bit worried. I just let her sit next to me and I try not to feed the anxiety. Only problem is we'll have fireworks going off every weekend between now and Christmas (and beyond). I'd be quite happy to just have public displays and that's it. There have already been fires and injuries to animals caused by fireworks and that was in the 2 days before Guy Fawkes!

A bit of cuteness to make you smile:

Rosie has been trying to nest, and trying to get the other female bourke she is in with to mate with her! She longs to be a mother and I caught her visiting the baby finch this morning.

I think the tough part is gonna be going a whole week. Not sure I've ever done that before.
1 day at a time...
You ought to try the veterinarian diet, one of those cones around your neck - to stop mindless eating.
You crack me up DD:gig
