The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Howdy Jae, how you doing today?

A very late "howdy" back - I'd stopped in briefly before we headed out to my nephew's birthday party to catch up. Now I'd better keep catching up!

morning everyone:frow
anyone else up? wilbur woke me up around 3 and tried but can't go back to sleep, its also cold here,24* but at least no snow

I was up early too this morning (but your early morning is my nighttime, made more confusing by the fact that your today is my yesterday). We've had wet, drizzly, grey, very humid weather so that's not fun either. I might be lucky and get some washing dry today if the misty rain stays away.

My father's mother was very impatient - in the middle of eating - fork aloft, she would take dishes from us to start washing them. We all had exasperated looks on our faces
That's crazy. But, according to my sister, my brother in law will start giving hints when he wants company to leave and start cleaning up everything - taking half filled drinks and disposing of them without asking if they are finished. He has gone farther than that, but I won't totally tell on him here. All I am going to say is I guess his company isn't good at hints.:D

Good morning everyone. I slept in this morning - got up at about 10. Guess I could have come here and chatted with you other insommniacs - got to sleep a little after 4am. Hate those nights, and they happen way too often!

And....still snowing.

Funny, the forecast shows 0% chance of snow.
NOOOOO... we have to go through Casper Tuesday on our way to Lusk and I hate that chopped up Interstate when the weather's bad!!

Good luck with that DMC! Let me know if it helps.

The first Christmas we had Bam Bam & Pip, Bam spent most of the holiday in the tree. He'd climb up into it and go to sleep. Last year when we had all 3 cats, we just had a tiny table top tree so no room for any tree cats. Not sure what we'll do this year but it's just not Christmas without a tree (at least for me)!

I don't know what we're going to do about a Christmas tree this year either. Destructo-Dog can reach just about everything, and as small as this house is a tree takes up half the living room anyway...if she goes in there, one swipe of her tail will undo hours of work. <sigh> I gots to have a tree...I just gotta! But even a table top tree is probably not safe. Maybe if I put the family Charlie Brown tree up high enough she won't get to that. Gonna be a bleak Christmas if I can't have my village, my tree, and my Moosie Nativity.

Kendra came home from school Friday with a homework assignment. They were given a turkey on paper and had to bring it back Monday decorated. Jenny didn't have anything crafty at home, so while Ken and I were in Billings we stopped in Michael's and got all kinds of fripparies. Well, Katie decided she wanted to join in the fun, so Jenny used the window as a light box and traced Katie one on construction paper, then my little artists got to work. Kendra had blast gluing feathers on hers....and loved the pompoms. Katie decorated hers by putting it in a dress. The bottom read, "Marshala - how Marshala survived a week being poor." And poor Marshala only has one tail feather. So stinking cute! Evan and Katie both made the honor rolls at their schools...for Katie it's a regular thing, she's been on it every quarter since she started. But this was the very first time Evan's made it, and is that boy ever pumped now to bring his GPA up even more and make it all the way through at Lovell. First year in his new school, and he's doing fantastic - way better than at Rocky. He was a bit rowdy with the friends he'd grow up with since pre-school. At the new school he has made a lot of friends, but they are all calmer together. He's now getting his classroom work done, which was his nemesis in Rocky. He always aced his tests, and turned in his finished homework, but just couldn't stay on task in the classroom. Not a problem here.

I don't think I could live with a pet pig. Not being critical, just honest - I don't have the patience to deal with another "kid". All of the pet pigs we'd see at the animal hospital were so spoiled....two of them each had their own rooms in the big house where the owner lived. But every owner said the same thing, "THEY are in charge...we just follow behind and mitigate the damage!" :lau

My sister is painting these Christmas stocking holders. The girl is forever busy painting when she’s not working. The top one is for me, I’m boring. She’s using old wood from a grainery we took down.

Nice job on the stocking hangers.

Wow Blooie, great for Evan!!!! And Katie too even if it is nothing out of the ordinary.
Are we going to get pictures of the girls' turkeys?

fripparies
Ooh, a new word! Though it sounds like it is an old word ;)

Maybe if I put the family Charlie Brown tree up high enough she won't get to that. Gonna be a bleak Christmas if I can't have my village, my tree, and my Moosie Nativity.
The Motel Blooie! You can go sit with your tree any time you like and Fiona won't have a chance to send it flying with her tail.

Thanks Debby! Me too! I had hubby make me a Christmas tree base out of the shiplap and I stained it...hoping it will stop the cats from shooting up the base of the tree.
Nah, they'll just launch themselves up a few feet and land in the tree over the base.

43 here earlier this morning... getting dry out preparing for Santa Anna winds from the desert...we will be under redflag warning by the end of the day....
43° is kinda cold for So. Cal down near San Diego! Sure hope no fires start down your way ... or anywhere else for that matter.
