The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We were home Sat and Sun. Left yesterday for meeting in Thermopolis, today we’re on our way to Lusk. Then we go from there to Sundance, followed the next day by his visit to Sheridan. Friday I have a recheck on my back, then Saturday we’re back in Sheridan for the day. Monday is Buffalo, then Douglas on Tuesday. I’m not sure I remember what home is!
I think I got lost trying to follow that!

Or make Ken take our hot tub out of winter layup. :thumbsup
What for, you aren't home to use it! Put a hot tub in the back of Shrek.

Thanks Sean!
I'm wondering about the evolution of all the colors in the regalia which obviously were originally all naturally occurring colors. I guess the Neon is kind of self explanatory and the colored spotlights change things, the feathers in the Chicken Dance look to be pretty much natural. So how/why did someone(s) decide to start coloring the feathers with pinks, purples, yellows etc?

I see your 2 videos and raise you the 2018 Gathering of Nations Pow Wow Grand Entry ;)
I'm curious that they are referring to themselves as North American Indians. I thought we were trying to get rid of that little misunderstanding on the part of Columbus 500 years ago as to where he landed and who the peoples were that he encountered.
The how of using bright colors started back in the late 50's early 60's, who started it I don't know! Indian peoples have always liked bright colors, dating back to the fur trade days, when the bright colors of beads were highly sought after for decorating, clothing, bags, staffs, belts, moccasins, etc. Before European contact, porcupine quills were dyed various natural colors and used to decorate their various accurements.

As far as the term North American Indian being used, some Indian peoples don't like that term, for them they would rather the term First Nations people be used. A lot of tribes names before the European invasion
ment "The People" or a name that connected them to a location.
It's the same with some not liking the term Redskins, or having mascots, towns, etc named after their tribe. Some are opposed to it, some could careless about the use of their names for mascots, such as Warriors", "Chiefs", "Indians", "Braves", etc. As with most everything an Indian person does, it is purely personal, no one other person has the right to tell them what to believe or follow, or what to do. As the saying goes, "It's an Indian thing".
